Rose vs Canyon. 1500 squid (ish)

Hello people.

I've read a lot of forums on this topic but there is never quite the info i'm hoping for. ive got a budget of around 1500 - maybe up to 1800. Canyon and Rose have some outrageous bikes in that price bracket but it's a minefield. Rose offer a Di2 equipped alloy and a basic ultegra equipped 6.5 kg carbon. Canyon, well, Canyon's rep precedes it for quality. There is almost too much choice, too many models. I do a lot of sportives, race a little and compete in triathlons - building to an ironman so it needs to be a little bit of a do it all. I'll keep my current Genesis as my commuter but the upgrade for longer events and the odd stage race is necessary.

The choices are just overwhelming and so if anyone has any experience with either brand and/or triathlon etc - any advice will be appreciated.

At the moment i'm torn between the rose models - but is the carbon frame (full ultegra) worth the risk over the alloy di2????? half a kilo is hardly an issue but on a long ride i might be grateful for it. I'm pretty much at race weight, not one of those going for a light bike when i could shift a few pounds myself.

Cheers

Do consider after sales. Anecdotally canyon's can be sketchy and slow. Versions of the semi aero Genesis Zero and Giant Propel come in at this price and they are tour proven frames. Genesis is an incredible ride, British designed and the 105 shifting is wonderful, giant has 50mm wheels around your budget I think?

My new Rose will turn up in a couple of weeks, the day after road.cc post their review of it of course 1

In all seriousness, I see a hell of a lot of Canyons around the place, I've only seen a couple of Rose bikes. Apparently Rose are much bigger in mainland Europe, every review of their bikes that I've seen has been positive.

Both are German and sell large volumes of bikes, sufficiently large that any systemic problems with their bikes would be well known. I don't think you'll go far wrong with either tbh.

For me personally, I'd be looking at a Carbon bike with Ultegra. For Di2 at £1500 I'd be expecting a few compromises elsewhere, so I'd probably stick to mechanical at that price point.

(Then again the bike I've ordered is the new Xeon CDX 3100 Di2 - £2250 for Di2 and Hydraulic discs - you seem to get a crazy amount for your money with Rose)

Not to say I have ruled out any other brand! Just for the money and as a long-term purchase, to me, they make sense. I've been on a tiagra/sora equipped Genesis Aether for a few years now. Its all about longevity!
