Giro d'Italia stage 2

Ok the stage should be off and running by now with BMC having the lead so will have to work to cut back any breaks.

Will that effect any sprint by Thor or Phinney - only time will tell.

Going to work now so any updates would be appreciated.

Nah Phinney back in there. Nice work, 3km to go, Cav keeps getting boxed in, I predict a crash 3

Phinney dropped his chain with 8km to go, WAY off the back now. So i hope Hushovd stays in and goes for the sprint 3

They had a mare yesterday, not that i ever follow them

But the had riders in wrong places, with wrong times and they were about 15 minutes behind everyone else

I was following Charles Pelkey's updates here

94k to go and the gap is down to 6:28

Live on TV now, so that means streams should be live aswell. I'll leave you all to it and come back with the results at the end 4

It's Sky doing the bulk of the work at the front of the peloton. It's working, too. The gap continues to drop.

With 102k to go and the gap is down to 7:57... that's down from a high of 13:15.

Dennis Van Winden hit the deck in the peloton. He looks like he's really sore, but is getting back on the bike.

Today's stage has been ridden at a fairly moderate 39.6kph, which is below the slowest pace on the time tables, so unless things pick up, we'll be behind schedule and see the finish between 5:30 and 6:00.
