Love to see looser budgets next year and the U23's have their own race...
Amen to that. but a lot of the features of the current game have been user suggestions, so it's not a waste of time thinking about these things. not much will be changing ahead of 2015 though
You had me at 'I get you'... I think I'll go watch 'Jerry McGuire' now... I'll say it again... 'You're a good man, chiv'
I knew you'd like it...
.
Gracias, caballo!
I like the idea but how will the pro tour teams be selected for next year ....ie players per league?
201pts in the rolling calender year, although i'm sure he was youth points eligible for about half of it)....not bad.....and he's a good shout for yellow on stage 2 today?
And there was me thinking it would be Viviani the difference eh Joel?
Even if i did think it was Demare and not Ramunas at first.
Tom Slagter? Ray.
I am a big fan of To0ms, he impressed the hell out of me, and every time he goes away , he comes back either faster(TDU,13') or tougher/stronger ( this year in Paris vasco, classics)
Yes I have Haussler in my teams too. I feel he has been quiet this year so far as IAM are targeting this race big time cause first year and want to consolidate a spot and Haussler has been primed to go bang. Look at the squad they bought , has to be their best if not.
I am very worried I forgot to bring Sagan in in standard. Tom Dumolin is my secret weapon in Purist too, I am hoping for something from him today too, Only went him and Sagan as sprinters there.
Yeah for sure, Chava is one of the toughest riders I ever seen, so many times I seen him go down think he is out of race, then next minute he is at front attacking , ripped jersey flapping in wind LOL absolutely love him.
Dave, what I mean is this... Here I am... tired... dispirited... and I'm thinking about doing my transfers and then I realize I have to go sign in, land on the 'Home' page, to see my information for the whole year, which I'm not particularly interested in right now, then look up at the tabs to make sure I don't click on the women's comp, which will probably be there all season, then click on 'TDF'and then click again to 'Select Team', it's like a marathon... It takes almost as long to get to do my transfers as it does to read one of my posts! Agh, I'm just a grumpy old man...
That's interesting... does that mean the algorithm just takes a look at points per type of stage but ignores number of days of racing in the last 12 months?... That could explain why they're more expensive I guess...
I feel your pain... I'm sorry, really... I mean it... It's just a sort of crazy 'Glad it wasn't me!' scenario... Funny, but tragic...
.
I remember that... the 2011 Vuelta... I came in 119th at that competition... My first spreadsheet for the game... In fact, you'll see a screenshot of the team I think I had for a mountain stage below... I became addicted after that... It was so cool to see your budget inch up 'cause your rider values had appreciated! Hugely unfair for the uninitiated, despairing when your budget went down, nerve wracking, but ultimately intensely engaging! Wow!
.
Nice list, flippy... I echo your sentiments...
...

That's a nice thought!
.
That's not...
.
I guess the query counted the riders on both Purist and Standard teams and calculated a percentage from all teams entered?... I'd settle for just a count of riders and not a percentage, if that's implementable...
.
Ummm... Just for the record... You amaze me, Dave...
the engine can only count results that have been part of a competition in the game though, so there's always going to be discrepancies. to exploit, i might add.
It's painful, really... It really hurts when I try to make sense out of all the stupidity in my brain... with all my limited brain function, immaturity and schizophrenia coinciding in my brain and competing for attention... It's not easy, I tell you...
That's a good idea... As soon as I cure my compulsive obsessive disorder, I'll get on it... Just kidding...
Amen to that, too...
Dave, can the first order of business in 2015 be the 'Reset button'? I would probably use it just about every day... It's very helpful for us 'scatter brained people' Just today, as soon as I hit 'Confirm,' I realized, 'Wait! Where's Danny Van Poppel?' but I had already selected poor old Thor 'cause I failed to see Van Poppel on the game start list
Great idea, I'd say top 18 are in the pro tour (as per the real thing) although maybe throw out some wildcards for the GTs?
Then it could either be just the rest in the lower one or perhaps 30 in the pro-conti and the rest split geographically in UCI Asia/Europe/America leagues?
One thing I always wanted to try was a team of teams league, 9 players get together for a tour and their scores are used to work out how well their team did so for example the top scoring player would earn their team the stage win, the overall best player the GC etc etc BUT the big prize would be the team prize which would be calculated by taking the best three individual player scores per team per stage and combining them.
I must say, besides Viviani, the others were 3 very very nice picks, I was quite impressed when I read the H2H .. Tommy Slagter my outside tip today.
I hope you will continue to share thoughts with me Ray, much appreciated.
P.s. ALL the IAM squad are peaking so hard atm. after the Suisse, I really like Brandle and bit less Hollenstien for future.
so what you're saying is you have to click two buttons? the humanity.
It's not just that, it's the rolling of the eyes, too... Could you get rid of the women's competition tabs for me?... That might make it less confusing... I'm very sensitive and so geared to the Tour de France that every time I click on the Women's World Cup, which happens every day practically, I puke, I just can't help it, I just can't control the mouse like I used to back in the day... Maybe I'm getting too old for this...
It'll probably be Top thirty and all equal scorers in the Pro Tour level and everyone else in Pro Conti with 5 promoted and relegated each season?
Dave, I don't think we need a 'Home' tab, honestly, I don't think anybody ever really stops there except because it's where you land when you log in.... It's just a click-through page to get to the current competition in my opinion... Why don't you change the 'Home' page to a 'Badges' page and stick that in the background somewhere? I don't think badges are a talking point anymore, really, and, well, old people like me just want to go to the current competition to get our fix of our daily adrenaline rush... I hate to sound demeaning, but could you get rid of the 'Women's World Tour' Tabs, too? Not the races, just the tabs... In my rush to get to the TDF and the constant jiggling of tabs and the jiggling of the page layout due to the huge ads wreaking havoc on the page design I have to wait more than 1 second to click on the TDF tab, which is quite annoying in this day and age... In my haste I have been forced to go to the Women's World Tour on more than one occasion because of my haste in clicking... Something should be done about that...
Wooooo!
I use the home tab to check my overall standing, and to switch those standings between my normal and purist teams. I find it useful anyway
I guess I never check my overall standings, especially during a competition... I could probably do without seeing my overall standing for the whole time a race is going on... Well, Dave, maybe you could rename the 'Home' tab 'Overall Standings'... or maybe you could have a checkbox somewhere that - if selected - would take you staright to your rider selection page every time you log in. I guess I'm just lazy and don't want to click 1 time to get to the competition and then another to select the riders.... It's too many clicks and my fingers hurt... I guess I'm just annoyable.. and annoying... and unreasonable...
Wooooo!
ouch... not much of that (!) happening in Romandie... I'm back to a team with 4 'stars' and 5 3.0 or so riders for this race... What a difference from the team we could pick for the Trentino TTT... I guess the difference is the field for Romandie truly is world class and that means lots of high value riders... Hmmm... I think I meant to post this on the Romandie thread, not here..
Patience is all relative, over the last few months I have had little patience I agree, over the last couple of years though I've had a huge amount of patience and that is now totally worn out.
For the last two years enrique has gone through cycles of being friendly and laid back only to ramp it up and be an incessant pain in the arse, he makes solid suggestions for minor changes to the game which are implemented then takes this as his chance to suggest huge overhauls of the game mechanics constantly. When these are refused for valid reasons hen then keeps suggesting them time after time for months on end.
Last July enrique was given a time out for his behaviour which seemed to improve things hugely, I even got a nice apology email, that all seems a long time ago now.
That's all well and good but as I said you simply jumped on him in ur previous post for no reason , he wasn't banging on about anything just taking some pride in the fact that one of his major gripes with the game had been implemented , he even acknowledged the fact you had shown him some recognition.
I can't see how his post managed to get you so wound up, after all to quote yourself , you have spent time out from the forum because you didn't like the atmosphere,
I'n this instance it is you creating the atmosphere and nobody else so only yourself to blame, surely
Ref getting an email from him , at least he was man enough to do that and for that he should be credited because it seems that is a step further than road.cc admin are willing to go to to try to resolve any issues
Of course this is just my 2p worth
You get me Thank you.
I remember well...
I'm very sentimental about these things...
