Mark Hodson says

"High end "Problem Group" participant ....using a motor vehicle as a weapon to harm or intimidate...offender should be treated in the same manner as someone who used a firearm to do the same....and result in a lifetime ban, as you would with a firearms licence."

The story, in case you meet the Kent Online paywall, is that he parked his EV in the car park, connected it but, he claims, his 'phone was dead which meant that the charging terminal would not work, so he walked home ("5 minutes" is mentioned), plugged in said phone and started the car charging from there.

The commenters aren't having it, though - charge your 'phone like a normal person seems to be the message.

I assume the vehicle was observed wrongly parked for longer than 5 minutes before the ticket was issued.

Drivers always want to stretch the rules - if you're a public transport user whose ticket is on a dead 'phone or you're 5 minutes late, there's going to be a consequence.

I always think there's a social problem to solve with EV charging - drivers use a petrol pump and generally they move on.  An EV needs to be left for a while, but site proprietors need a way to get charged up vehicles to clear the space for the next customer.

Middle Street, where he lives, looks to be a car's width wide - how can anyone possibly live there???

Parking ticket fears as drivers stuck on Wolstanton Retail Park for 90 MINUTES

The car park was described as 'absolute carnage'

This one mentions the opening of a new road, as well as road works as being the problem. Great time saver you've got there.

Two very different towns Chippenham and Hanley introducing widespread parking restrictions, to improve the flow of motor traffic, and to protect bus and cycle lanes in Hanley. I can't decide on this - part of me thinks parked and manoeuvring cars act as a kind of traffic calming, and buffering if you're on the pavement.   But they have a habit of obstructing bike lanes - paint only type so of questionable benefit, and delaying buses.  I assume a red route means "no stopping and we mean it"?

On the specifics of the car-dependent take away, this always seems to me like a depressingly unhealthy lifestyle. I'm sure he doesn't mean parking right outside the shop as there's a pedestrian crossing just behind us here. Peeking up over the rooftops is a multi storey car park - not really relevant to the "I've just got to nip in here" hazard flasher parking, I guess.

Chippenham parking restrictions plan divides residents

No, Mr Editor, it really doesn't.  Residents want the restrictions, drivers are whining about it.

Horror 10 pint driver caused life-changing crash near Bristol Airport (Bristol Post)

Looks like the law does work sometimes.

Quote:

(He) appeared at Bristol Crown Court where he was handed a three year and two month jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and for failing to provide a specimen. He was also handed a driving ban for 11 years and seven months.

Officers (had) arrived at the scene and suspected (him) of drink driving. However, he claimed he was innocent and bodyworn video footage showed him saying that the driver was unknown to him and had run off. He then refused to complete a roadside breath test.

No drivers involved in any of this.  I'm wondering if the journalist who wrote it is actually a car itself.

Entrapment, innit?  I mean, there's a road there then they decide you can't drive there?  Buses get in the way of drivers anyway, they're always stopping.  And why would they issue all those fines if it wasn't to make money?

Stephen Norman shouldn't be driving if he doesn't know the rules.

I see it at every junction. Light turns amber, first car maybe could have stopped but carries on through second car certainly could have stopped but carries on through, third car put his foot down to make it through before it turns red, fourth car puts his foot down and goes through on red.

The motorist has been waging war on everybody else for 100 years, and they've always won.

Thanks for the advance warning. The only proper such episode I have experienced in Lancashire, apart from the nutters shouting out the window, was from the close passing driver of BMW PK14 HLW in August 21 who claimed to have 'given me 1.5 metres' and threatened to 'fucking flatten' me and to knock me off my bike, when I caught him up at some road works. It was all on video, but it took over 6 weeks to receive a reply from the police. The officer claimed to have been temporarily transferred to another station! The result was: 'he shouldn't have spoken to you like that'.

I think building a bike lane brings out the best in people, just as a 20 mph limit does - drivers, instead of being me me me selfish all the time, discover their concern for bus passengers, blond and partially sighted people, and air pollution.

Well everyone is concerned for the blond ... 😉
... but yes, it's funny how "cyclists" always promote sudden concerns for others.

https://aseasyasridingabike.wordpress.com/2020/12/09/selective-concern/

As to bus stop bypasses increasing danger - I understand there is legitimate concern but I do wonder if people have ever heard of "side roads" ... ?

Sorry to be nit-picking, but it's javascript which has nothing to do with the language Java. The two are commonly confused and it appears that Netscape intended the confusion for marketing purposes when they released javascript.

You wonder how car-brained someone has got to actually write this. Poor little me.
