I did Izagirre and Schachmann (38pts) > McNulty and Vingegaard (91pts + whatever pts for tomorrow) so no complaints. My Bevin > Fraile cost me 11pts though.
Neither Schachmann or Izagirre looked great the day before....and no idea how Bevin dragged himself up that final climb today.
McNulty and Hermans in for me which worked out well. Have a small lead in Standard comp but very short on transfers, might need some big breaks with obscure riders taking the points to help me out!
You picked well with Hermans. Did you pick him for KOM competition, sprint or mountain stages......I missed a trick there.
You're well placed. Herman's may well get a sack full if he gets in the break and does both KOM pts and is there at the finish. I can see a very big break getting away tomorrow and staying away.
KOM as it seemed to be a goal, he also sprints well but honestly was suprised to see him pop up last night at the finish! He got distanced on the climb but obviously rode well to get back to the group.
Well that went spectacularly wrong! Moved heaven & earth to get Yates & Woods in for today by taking McNulty, Schachmann & Vingegaard out. Very poor return and now short on transfers. Drives you mad!
Similar problem. Sat on my hands yesterday, but today I wanted Woods in, so that meant losing Schachmann and McNulty (who I thought might falter more then he did).
My other two in were Gaudu and Vansevenant so not the end of the world.
McNulty is an odd one. Always looks to be struggling on climbs but never blows completely. Not a bad trait when you can TT like him - plus he's got a few years to improve his endurance.
Took McNulty out as well today. Never in a million years did I think he would get up that climb in good shape. He looks very different to previous races.
Agree, kept Schachmann instead of McNulty as Schachmann always seems to find a way, but probably as expected this climb was on his limit. Bala looking good..
Blimey. Well and truly missed the deadline today. Looking forward to Lekssund, Bevin and McNulty going up that climb....pffft....
McNulty did pretty well yesterday...
Rog and Pog being so expensive and both undroppable makes picking difficult today anyway. Tomorrow and onwards we'll have a much better picture and you'll have transfers to burn.
Well it was going to be McNulty and Lekssund > Gaudu and Izagirre/Laporte. I think I missed out...but not by as much as I thought I might.
It's ideal for fantasy management actually - put all your GC guys in for Day 1, so you're guaranteed the GC points all week, and take out the guys who aren't on form. Now, is TdG still on form or was Catalonia 'it'... hmmm.
Aye. Those opening couple of stages will leave so big time gaps back to some very good riders....looks like a lot of scope for picks.
Yes, I am looking forward to trawling the bargain bucket for some punchy climbers! It is always a cracking race and the field, this year, is already looking stellar (sprinters excepted of course). We do currently seem to be in a bit of a golden age for cycling.... still got Evenepoel to come back as well in due course.
Definitely a golden age. Hopefully we'll have a fight for KOM this time being as we haven't had much of a one for a while...
Agreed, it's just been a runners up prize in the GC in the last few editions. Love it when a Maté or some such has a go for it!
Already looking like a race where the majority of transfers will be used shuffling the cheaper riders in and out.
