Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

The suprisingly warm and sunny afternoon ride. Which is nice and peaceful, as everyone else has given up "outdoors" until Easter.
The crisp morning air, making me weep like a man on the edge as I cycle past the bus stop on the way to work.
Morning mist in the river valleys...
There's something wholly cleansing on the lungs and in the head about a cool, brisk morning and cycling in weather that doesn't induce an immediate sweat makes autumn a great time to get out.
Whether it's road bike or mountain bike it's just great to be riding even in chilly winter
I have to leaf the house later ...
Riding through puddles
Fresher days and extra colour all around the roads.
Crisp, fresh, bright, poignant days on the bike....poetry
Wrapped up warm with a brisk crisp breeze , enjoying quieter roads
With the change of colours of the trees . Testing new or old gear not used for several months with the warm glow that the conditions may change but the challenge has been taken up and will be conquered - nothing will stop me cycling !
It's the misty mornings that I love the most
Being able to buy a new fleece jersey and baselayer, to say I have 'this season's kit
Headwinds and slow punctures
crisp mornings and fantastic autumn colours
Just getting out on the bike without concern for how fast you're r going and how good your tan lines are. Reminds you of why you started cycling in the first place.
The colours of Autumn are amazing and I don't need to hammer it too much. I justify less pace by telling myself I am just getting the miles in for next year. Bliss.
The crisp morning air on my daily commute - made easier when I get to work as there's less competition for bike parking!!
The joy of riding with a summers worth of conditioning in the legs. Oh, and I love riding in bib knickers/tights so pulling them out of the back of the wardrobe at this time of year is like saying hello to an old friend.
That feeling of achievement when your mates can't believe you ride in such terrible conditions and still have a smile on your face!
I love starting an Autumnal ride chilly and then within 5 minutes you're cycling at the right temperature. Ideally a little cool, whilst looking a little bit cool!
The colors and the crisp air!
Not being baking hot and dripping with sweat when I get to work.
The cool crisp autumn air is like someone turned on the air conditioning. That and rolling over dry leaves as I cycle through the park.
Weighing up the dangers of low sun, slippy leaves and numb feet against the tedium of turbo. Which is going to be the name of my next album.
Not sure if it's a 'like', but rides certainly become more EPIC!!!
Having just moved back to the UK countryside after three years in New York, the thing I love most about autumn riding so far is the colours and the change in the light. All around is turning russet or gold and I can't help but smile as I realise just what I've been missing out on the past few years!
'Fresh' air and sunny mornings
Setting off in the dark and having the sun come up to warm you up and be able to turn your lights off.
Love the stuff but no chance of affording it, so freebie sounds great!
The enjoyment of riding when and where I want to. No plans, no goals, no targets.
