Following the legendary roads of the Tour de France and Tour of Spain going up and down through our region where several generations of champions have pulled off their finest achievements, receiving a warm welcome in the same passionate towns, making you discover outstanding landscapes and sites, such was our intention while preparing the 2014 Campilaro race.
Ultimately, we offer a balanced six-stage route: 2 flat stages, 1 medium mountain stage, 2 mountain stages and 1 sprint stage, all of them covering in total 700 km of which 620 are timed.
The Pyrenees will obviously be at the heart of the Campilaro race and legendary passes will be climbed: not only the Tourmalet (2.115 m), which has regained its standing after the devastating floods of June 2013, but also the Aspin (1.489 m), the Peyresourde (1.569 m), Peyragudes (1.600m ), Superbagnères (1.800m) , the Azet pass (1.580m), the Port of Balés (1.755m), the Portet d’Aspet pass (1.069m)...
An unquestionable sport challenge, a hymn to the road bike and its riders, a personal challenge where each participant will be in very similar conditions to those of professional racing, facing changes in altitude, the succession of stages and the limits of their own personal capabilities, but also… a unique human adventure, which is our prime motivation…
The Campilaro is yours. You can become the inspirer of its most captivating pages…
