ABOUT THE EVENT
Croeso i’r Wiggle Etape Cymru. Gobeithiwn y byddech yn ymuno gyda ni ar yr 13ddeg o Fedi 2015 i fwynhau’r profiad arbennig o feicio ar rai o ffyrdd harddaf Gogledd Cymry.
The revamped Wiggle Etape Cymru returns in 2015 with three new routes and one great price; all distances just £35 for a limited period. Formerly a closed road event, the new open road format has allowed organisers Human Race to design a range of distances offering the chance for riders of all abilities to join the spectacular ride this year. The route starts and finishes in Wrexham and passes through the Clwydian Range (an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and Dee Valley area with stunning scenery. Starting at the picturesque Bangor on Dee racecourse, all three routes head west and take in the infamous Horseshoe Pass; a bucket list climb for any cyclist. The Gran Fondo riders will complete a mightily impressive 221km, which is 80km more than last year’s route.
The decision to make the sportive an open road event allows us to offer Corto (110k), Medio Fondo (170k) and Gran Fondo (220k) options for the first time. “The closed road Etape Cymru was a huge success over the past four years, but we have something very special up our sleeve this year” says Event Director Kirsty Wilde. “Having an open road event allows us to pick our perfect route so we can access stunning vistas and beautiful scenery more often.”
The Horseshoe Pass ‘King of the Mountain’ stage
During the Wiggle Etape Cymru there will be a special King of the Mountain timed stage for the Horseshoe Pass climb. This 6.1km climb gains 317m in height and at times the gradient reaches 20%.
No need for event day registration! Your pack will be posted out to you in plenty of time for the event, so you will not have to attend registration for this event.
OFFICIAL CHARITY
MacmillanMacmillan Cancer Support is the official charity partner of the Wiggle Etape Cymru. We are encouraging all our riders to join Team Macmillan to raise as much money as possible to help people affected by cancer.
89 people are hit with the news they have cancer every day in the UK. Then, it hits everyone who loves them. Macmillan believes no one should have to face cancer alone, and the money raised by Team Macmillan from the Wiggle Etape Cymru will help us to ensure that no one has to.
To join Team Macmillan simply tick the option to be part of their team on the entry form. If you already have a place in the event, you can still join Team Macmillan, just create a fundraising page quickly and easily on JustGiving here.
Once you are registered with Team Macmillan, they’ll send you a welcome pack, fundraising and training materials, and support you right up to the event.
