The Leeds 100 is one of 4 challenge events we’ll be hosting across the country in 2019 designed for riders who are looking to challenge themselves on a longer route distance than our regular RIDE IT events.
The event has a choice of fully waymarked routes, well stocked feed stations sponsored by High 5 Sports Nutrition, mechanical and sweeper van support if things go wrong, electronic chip timing to record your ride along with a unique event specific finishers medal, goody bag and post ride food waiting for you at the end.
Leeds has frequently been a stop on the RIDE IT calendar but for 2019 we move to a new summer date with all new route options that will give riders the chance to bag a century ride whilst sampling some of the roads that will feature when Yorkshire hosts the UCI World Championship later in the year.
As you might expect the area offers some challenging cycling terrain with the full route featuring two climbs that appear in the UK’s 100 Greatest Cycling Climb, first Greenhow Hill with gradients up to 18% in places and then Norwood Edge which is slightly easier as it only hits around 16% on the steep section!
As well the 100 mile and 100km route options there is also a shorter route option that still includes some hills but well suited to those looking to spend less time in the saddle but still get a taste for the riding this area has to offer.
