Taking in several stunning bays and seaside sights, traffic free promenades and leisurely country lanes. Along the way, there are frequent stops where Col will share stories about the history, culture and landscape, including little known local secrets! Starting at Margate station, just 1hr20 on the train from London!
Itinerary
11am // Meet at Margate station where you will be introduced to your fellow adventurers before heading off along a traffic-free coastal path taking in Margate's beaches and sights.
Early Afternoon // Explore Broadstairs, the charming seaside town which has connections to a giant of the literary world, Charles Dickens.
Late Afternoon // A short ride along the coast to Ramsgate, a town with a wonderful blend of maritime heritage and architectural finery.
Either jump on the train with Colin back to Margate or stay in Ramsgate, explore, and catch the train back home in your own time.
Difficulty: Medium
Mostly paved surfaces. Suitable for all skill levels.
Distance: 8 miles approx.
What to bring: Your bike, suitable comfy clothing, water, packed lunch and funds for the train.
Bike Hire: Bikes can be hired for an extra £5. Bikes are supplied by Cyclerecyclekent, a not-for-profit social enterprise. Donated bicycles, refurbished by volunteers to help those with mental health issues. A place where people can work, learn, socialise and support each other there when and as they need.
