Bike LIVE Cannock: the road bike highlights on offer for you to try

With just over a week to go until we head to Cannock Chase for our next Bike LIVE demo day we thought it'd be a good time to whet your appetite with a few of the bling bikes available to ride on the day. This is just a tiny selection of the eighty odd different models that'll be there on the day mind. 

Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1

The TCR Advanced is the lightest bike in Giant's range making it a bit of an all rounder in terms of racing. With a revamp in 2016 the carbon fibre frame has been made even more svelte without compromising its awesome levels of stiffness. In fact when Mat tested the Pro 0 model he summed it up thus;

"Overall, the Giant TCR Advanced Pro is a really impressive bike: lightweight and stiff with a top-level groupset and wheels that are equally accomplished. This is a very strong proposition.

Verdict

An exceptionally good race bike that combines stiffness and light weight, and a really strong spec."

The Advanced Pro 1 available on the day is priced at £2,699 and comes with a full Ultegra groupset, Giant finishing kit and wheels.

Liv Envie Advanced Pro 1

Liv is the female specific brand from Giant and alongside the endurance based Avail range they'll be bringing you'll find this speedy little number, the Envie. Centered around an aero shaped full carbon fibre frameset  the Envie Advanced Pro 1 is a lightweight, stiff race machine for those of you who like to race against others, the clock or just yourself

For your £4,199 the Pro 1 is specced with a full Ultegra Di2 groupset, Giant finishing kit and a set of deep section rims. We reckon the demo bikes are going to absolutely fly on our test route.

Cube Attain GTC Pro Disc

The Attain is  Cube's take on the long distance speed machine for those rides when you want to go far and fast. With a longer wheelbase than their race machines  and slightly slacker angles the Attain looks like it'll be a stable machine without the twitchiness, ideal if it's been a long day in the saddle and you're getting a bit tired.

The frame will also take full mudguards which when paired with hydraulic disc brakes makes for a great all weather bike or super commuter.

At £1,699 this model looks to be good value for money too with a Shimano 105 groupset and Fulcrum wheels.

Wilier Cento10 Air Ultegra Di2

I test rode the Cento10 Air in this build at our Bath Bike LIVE event and it was an absolute pocket rocket offering loads of stiffness and tight handling.

The aerodynamic design takes in virtually every component starting with the Alabarda monocoque bar/stem combo which completely hides the gear cables as they travel into the frame. The rear direct mounted brake caliper also does away with the need for a brake bridge between the seatstays too, every gram counts!

At £6,299 it's a bit of a dream machine but make sure you take it for a blast to try out the Di2 if you haven't tried electronic shifting before.

Rose X-Lite CWX 3100

Rose use a direct to customer model which has always seen them offer competitively priced bikes to the marketplace with a fair bit of customisation at the checkout.

This model here, the X-Lite CWX is a full on aero bike which has been designed from the ground up in the wind tunnel offering aero gains from top to toe, we were certainly impressed when we tested it, "A fast and sharp-handling aero road bike with top-level components and the all-weather assurance of disc brakes"  being the verdict. 

The seatpost can be switched 180 degrees to steepen the seat tube angle to 76 degrees making it ideal for time triallists or triathletes whose position favours the more upright stance.

The 3100 model currently comes in at €4,294 (£3,659) including VAT and delivery to the UK for an Ultegra Di2, carbon rimmed setup.

Ribble Gran Fondo

​The Gran Fondo has been part of Ribble's range for a fair few years with a fair few updates along the way including for 2017 a brand new disc brake version. Designed for those long rides you'll find the geometry being a little taller and slacker than the company's race machines but it'll still shift on at a fairish old lick, I owned one for three years.

Ribble's recommended build of Shimano 105 and Mavic Aksium wheels comes in at a wallet friendly £1,249 but thanks to their Bikebuilder you can have pretty much any component from the warehouse shelves.

Canyon Endurace

The Endurace is as you've probably guessed Canyon's take on the endurance genre, a slightly more relaxed geometry with a taller head tube and slightly shorter top tube for those who want a slightly more upright position than the company's race machines in a rim or disc braked option.

Don't go thinking that makes the Endurace a bike that likes to take things easy though,  David Arthur described it like thus, "Canyon's brand new Endurace CF SLX 9.0 SL is a complete revamp of the original, and succeeds in offering a wonderfully smooth and comfortable ride yet with fast and engaging handling to indulge all those who like to ride quickly." 

This Endurace CF SLX DB 8.0 comes with a full Ultegra mechanical groupset and Reynolds Assault LE Disc wheelset  for £3,349 at the moment which includes VAT but you'll need to add £32.99 on for delivery.

It is about 25 miles north of central Birmingham and about nine miles from the M6 motorway. There is plenty of parking along with toilets and a café. Cannock Chase has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a mix of natural woodland, coniferous plantations and open heathland.

When? 

Bike Live Cannock Chase takes place on Saturday, 8 April 2017. 

It starts at 9:30am and you can stay right through until 4:30pm.
