On Tuesday I sent in a photo (of myself) to the casting agent but it was rejected with a note saying "thanks for your interest but keep of the beer"
Be interesting to see how many clubs manage to get themselves on this...
Also be ready to be asked to change your kit. I've been an extra before and had to change my jacket to a plain one because of the logo of the maker on it. So you may find pro kit is out but you may get away with club kit depending on the sponsers on it. And as peow says bring warm clothes cause there will be an awful amount of sitting around.
RIGHT I'm off to shave my head and grow a mustache. Where's my testosterone at...
Guys, if you're thinking of doing this, please ensure you are paid for your appearance. Don't be fooled by anyone who says that there "isn't the budget for it". These programmes make significant amounts of money for ITV, there's plenty of cash to pay you.
I'd want at least £100 a day, plus expenses (source - works in television). And bear in mind that for much of the day, you'd be doing nothing - so take warm clothes.
I believe the natives vernacular is "Don't do owt for nowt".
I've always picked up between £100 and £150 a day, the majority though have been nearer £100, but that's for just standing round in normal every day clothes not having to wear expensive cycling gear and bringing along potentially a few grands worth of bike.
And what happens if the type of chopper that tears though people at the beginning of sportives (only to be found burnt before the end) gets himself extra giddy and loses control whilst trying to get his race face into the "epic" shot and cleans out your pride and joy and all it's crabonz?
Who's liable or will all liability be waived away when you sign on?
This is all worst case scenario and very pessimistic but worth bearing in mind.
Is this worth shaving my legs for?
"Paula from the agency adds, “basically if you look like you wouldn’t be out of place at the Tour de France, I could book you in for some days’ filming at the Emmerdale village in Harewood.”
I'll need to starve myself to death for months to "get the look"
I would do this, one of my mates was an extra in 'The Flying Scotsman', it would probably be something like that. I wonder when they are filming?
Complete SKY kit on order.
No shortage of these - I see at least 4 or 5 on every ride - all shapes and sizes
i would love it if it was full of fat mamils, although not that I am going to watch emmerdale either way.
I'm soo Pro my new Ribble even looks like a Dogma.
So I'm out with my fat gut!
Nah, just wear an AG2R jersey and speak Colombian.

think positive - please look at picture number 11!

its the scene with the out of control combine harvester and 18 pints of cider that gets me nervous
After 18 pints of cider, I'll not notice the combine let alone look like a pro.
Cider - it's up norf. More likely 18 pint's of best.
If they'd have thought on they could have got some really good footage of actual pro-riders yesterday. I think Kittel may be more of a Heartbeat fan but I'm sure they could have twisted his arm.
The key question is how much are they paying?
"What do you mean I don't look pro? I followed all the rulez..."
lol, i can just picture the the kind of people volunteering who 'think' they look the part now.
Surely they they could have asked a few of the local cycling clubs if their fast guys are available for a day and resolved this in minutes?
But if they wanted "fast guys" then maybe they would of asked for them!
