Video: Road Bike Parkour - Max Schrom gets inspired by Martyn Ashton

German trials rider switches to a road bike with some impressive results

German trials rider Max Schrom was so inspired by the story of Martyn Ashton, star of the Road Bike Party videos, that he decided to produce his own version for his latest video.

Called Road Bike Parkour, Schrom, whose skills have earned him two Guinness World Records, puts a road bike through its paces in the film. The results are impressive.

Earlier this year, Ashton released the follow-up to his original Road Bike Party film. While it was being made, he lost the use of his legs due to a crash that happened while he was giving a stunt display.

Chris Akrigg and Danny MacAskill stepped in to help him complete the video, and a behind the scenes documentary was released earlier this month.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

OK, the low saddle I can accept because of the need for (nut) clearance. The awful hood positions I can live with in order to have constant brake lever contact while stunting. However there is no, absolutely no excuse for laying a bike on the ground drive side down! 4
