New Rapha kit for Team Sky

Professional riders spotted in new training kit that'll be launched early 2015

Team Sky are currently gadding about Mallorca in new Rapha training clothing that will be available early in 2015.

Geraint Thomas posted this pic on his Facebook page half an hour ago.

What’s that jersey Geraint (second from right) is wearing? It looks like a Rapha Super Lightweight Jersey in Sky blue, but no Sky logos. If it’s not the same fabric, it’s certainly very similar in style.

And that gilet on the left: that’s not in the current Rapha range.

Check out this pic from Team Sky’s Facebook page. Ben Swift (left) is wearing the same gilet and what looks like a new version of the Brevet jersey with the horizontal stripes.

And what’s this Geraint Thomas is wearing here with a short neck zip?

Then, we have this pic of Bernie Eisel.

With those ventilation zips on the side of the chest, he could be wearing a new version of Rapha’s Winter Jersey. Would he be wearing that in Mallorca today, though? Maybe not, so perhaps it’s a similar design in a lighter fabric.

And are those new non-Sky branded shorts with leg warmers too?

Stay tuned for more details once we’ve hassled Rapha for some answers.

I wouldn't call that snobbishness. It's an (accurate) observation. I'm sure it will be seen other places too. Perhaps we should have a definitive list?

Some people wouldn't wear Rapha because of cost/imagine implications, they'd rather wear cheaper kit. How is that snobbish? Inverse snobbishness, perhaps.

And the whole 'wear what you want' thing - to many shows a lack of *respect*.

Different strokes and that. I'm not sure you can start ranting and raving and calling people all sorts of names before you understand their reasoning.

Look up the definition of a snob.

I'm not sure that 'snobbishness' is the right word, by any stretch of the imagination.

“Coming soon to the arse end of a Sportive near you.”

“I look forward to seeing an endless stream of this kit huffing and puffing it's way up box hill.....”

If that isn’t snobbery…

It’s classic Rapha bashing on roadcc but with an added elitism from ‘proper cyclists’ (whoever they are). It really gets my back up hence my wee explosion there - sorry about that, I got the rage 14 . I’m a very big fan of Rapha, I’m also a long time cyclist with a healthy collection of quality bikes but I could not give a flying fig what other people wear and ride - why should I. Sadly there are people that do - they’re the golf snobs of our sport. I don’t wear team kit myself, I prefer to play my colours down, but I did wear a Sky Jersey when I rode to the Tour this year from Edinburgh with Chris Hoy and Sky – suck that up snobs! 3

Good heavens. People calling others 'dolts'. People swearing like troupers. Over some kit? Amazed.

The Brevet kit looks good. Hope they do a series without the branding. It'll probably sell better.

Agreed. Reckon my Brevet jersey is the best Rapha item I've got.

I love Rapha's stuff, but I wouldn't ever buy the Sky range. Arguments about it being no different than wearing a football shirt aside, the sizing is just....ridiculous. Lovely to look at though!

OK, I know, I know - 'team kit', 'sky' and 'rapha' etc etc. But I think the blue kit looks good. I have *NEVER* understood why a team called 'Sky' insists on waring black rather then blue kit.

It's nonsensical.

I would agree with your analysis - but I just couldn't be bothered to read it...

I thought you could already get this as a "fan" jersey this season? 40

Did you say 'training' camp?

What better preparation for the Spring classics than topping up your tan lines. Just joking, can't wait for Stannard and G's return to some serious cobble and hellingen eating.

Excellent stuff. I'm off to the bank tomorrow to see how much equity I've got left in the house.
