Specialized tyre amnesty returns - get a new pair of S-Works Turbo tyres for reduced price

Trade in any old tyres for a brand new pair of S-Works Turbo tyres for £50 - a £30 discount over the list price

Specialized ran its tyre amnesty this time last year, and it’s back again, offering you the chance to trade in any old pair of tyres for a brand new pair of Specialized S-Works Turbo tyres, for just £50.

Normally costing £80 a pair, this is a good way to get rid of some old tyres you might have and treat your bike to some fast new tyres for the spring.

The S-Works Turbo tyres are available in 24 and 26mm widths, and you can even opt for a special Tour of Britain edition. These are the same tyres used by the likes of Mark Cavendish (although they use the tubular version). The tyres use a Gripton rubber compound over a Blackbelt puncture belt with a 220 TPI carcass construction.

Says Specialized: “S-Works Turbo sets the standard for how a performance road tyre should perform. Fast, light, and supple, the Turbo exceeds the demands of competitive road riders. Extremely low rolling resistance and superior cornering traction lets you climb easily, descend quickly, and corner aggressively.”

The amnesty runs until Tuesday 5th May 2015, only at participating dealers, with a maximum one pair of tyres per transaction. You can find your nearest participating Specialized retailer here www.specialized.com/gb/gb/dealer-locator

Unless you are gonna use these just for races only, or indoors even, I wouldn't even consider them for British roads.
One of mine lasted longer than the other, but it was only a matter of a few hundred miles and less than one summer.
They dont just puncture easilly but first one developed large split in the tread the other a split sidewall which the inner was pertruding from!
Bottom line, they are not up to the roads of SE England, obviously I was the one who rode over that stuff and you may be luckier but I've had the same think with other racy tyres, just dont bother.
My choices are GP4000 for speed/grip and decent durabilty.
Durano Plus for winter training.
I'm probably going to go with Durano standards on my summer bike since they stopped the Durano S, sticking with the Contis for TTs and Tri's.

Excellent news. My pair from last year are pretty worn down and I was about to replace them anyway. Best tires IO have ridden on. I use the 24mm with Zip303 on a Roubaix. Feels fantastic and rolls on and on and on and on and on....

Picked mine up today (from Evans).
Got a pair already from last year's offer and they're half worn so a good opportunity to get some more.

Brilliant tyres, really light, very grippy and the 26 is a nice volume - I used it on cobbles in Belgium last year. I wouldn't use them for commuting as they're too light and they will wear fast but as a racing tyre, they are excellent.

I was all set to go and get some, but none in EBC in Rusholme and none in Pedalsport in Huddersfield. Further investigation suggests that they are a great tyre but they aren't famous for durability. Think I'll stick with Schwalbe Ultremos for now; similar price but are lasting well.

Ring the shops first because they haven't got the tyres in yet!

Had them since Thursday in the shop I work in.

Probably the best road tire I've ever used - I had the 26c version

But buyers be aware it really is a racing tire, with extremely limited life and tendency to puncture at a sniff of debris.

After burning through my last pair in 7 weeks (rear lost its riding surface and front 'spidered' from heavy front braking on hills) and suffering 5 punctures in 1 week, I switched back to Continential GP 4000's

However, the "new" Turbo are extremely fast and very grippy, especially under hard braking, for race day or a trip overseas where you won't encounter the glass / pothole infested roads of the UK, the amnesty is well worth taking up.

Thanks - I was wondering whether to try these for spring, but I know that a pair of black chilli GP4000s will last me the season, think I'll stick with those.
