A video showing a car passenger pushing a man from his bike has attracted hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook – but the social network has declined to remove it, saying it doesn’t breach its community guidelines.
Shot from the inside of a car, it shows the passenger leaning out of the window and giving the rider – who appears to be wearing a Royal Mail high-visibility jacket – from his bike as the vehicle overtakes him.
The cyclist lands on a grass verge, to the evident glee of the car’s occupants.
The video, which you can watch below, has also been viewed more than 250,000 times via a Facebook page called Young Rich Britain, where the vast majority of people commenting on it condemned the actions of the people in the car.
What is thought to be the original video – uploaded on Saturday, and also with around a quarter of a million views – was shared to the Stop Killing Cyclists group on Facebook, with user Tony Sanders urging people to report the video to the social network using its ‘I don’t like this’ facility.
However, he subsequently received a message from Facebook saying the video hadn’t been removed as it didn’t breach community guidelines, causing him to comment, “Facebook are seemingly happy that this wasn't a violent attack.”
We have asked Royal Mail whether they are aware of one of their employees being assaulted in such a manner.
It is believed that the Metropolitan Police have been notified of the incident, with the presumed original poster giving the location on Facebook as London, but the force was unable to confirm that it had been reported to them.

id say shoot the little faggots, but that'd be a waste of
perfectly good ammunition ....
Idiots, should be prosecuted. If there had been a tree or worse metal road sign there could have been a lot worse
PS - its def a 406 estate
I think that was a plain stupid thing to do.
It was me who reported it to london police (and maybe others did too). They got back to me and said they couldn't take it any further because they don't know where it happened. If only we could find the victim...
Response from the Police:
Thank you for your submission to Roadsafe London concerning the incident detailed below. We have received several reports showing concern regarding this Facebook post. Without any details of the vehicle, cyclist, date/time or location, we at Roadsafe, are unable to investigate the matter within this department. It would appear that Facebook themselves have also received complaints and have removed the video as none of the video links sent to us are accessible.
With the belief that this is a genuine incident and not a hoax, we are confident this matter would have been reported to police by the victim and this report will include the necessary details in order for the matter to be fully investigated as a substantial criminal offence.
Roadsafe London is not intended for the reporting of crimes, collisions or incidents of poor driving with a view to prosecution. Please read the information on the Roadsafe London home page to confirm if a Roadsafe submission is suitable for your incident.
If any submissions received at Roadsafe London require a different course of action, we will redirect it, but rest assured your submission will be dealt with accordingly.
Kind regards,
On behalf of RoadSafe London
Charming.
It's funny how when people were planning riots or threatening Robin Hood airport the police somehow managed to track individuals via their facebook/Twitter accounts and take them to court. The minute we see a criminal act against a cyclist, somehow the police are powerless to do anything about it.
But accurate.
I don't think the term faggots is accurate or appropriate really, regardless of what these idiots have done.
In case you're unaware of why you were called out on this: wiki faggot
I'm disappointed not only due to the crass homophobic language, but because now I quite fancy faggots with loads of gravy and mash.
Well, BBC are looking for a new presenter for a 'popular' car show, think they've possibly found one.
Arrogant, self obsessed wanker with a general dislike towards anyone who isn't like themself and thinks it would be funny to film such 'antics'. Yup, we have a winner.
Yup, he's pulled it down before they (FB) could review it, after saying they had reviewed it
Probably had it pointed out to him how stupid it was posting it on social media, then sent to his room.
I reported the video on that Johnathon O'Donnell's page (seemingly the originating post) to Facebook last night and initially got the same "it doesn't violate our guidelines" response, but have since had another message to say that *he* has removed it.
Seems like two offences have been commited here. Firstly the passanger commits assault. But secondly the driver is passing too close which should as a minimum count as careless driving. The drivers get out of jail free card of 'didnt see him due to dark clothing/low sun/no helmet/can't explain why clearly doesn't wash here as all the car occupants were well aware of ghe cyclist.
YouTube mirror anyone?
It looks as if Facebook mods have removed it.
What was really disconcerting was the comments from people who thought it was funny and intended to copy it.
I hope we're not in for a summer of copycat idiots leaning out of cars pushing cyclists over.
Nope, it's still there on the Rich Young Britain page, or whatever it's called.
I complained about it, fully expecting no good to come of it, and I wasn't surprised. I've just had a report back saying they'd reviewed it and determined it doesn't breach their guidelines. Somewhat bewildering, really.
Hmm, that's strange. When I click on the link it says unavailable.
DN61 ZDH is a blue Vauxhall according to the DVLA.
The truth is that young people (sadly no longer me) do not read papers or watch the news; they are prone to say and do stupid things on social media. They will keep finding out that it has repercussions. So expect similar stories in the future. Attempted murder, no, but assault, yes. I hope the police are interested, though if the 'victim' isn't identified I doubt it will go further.
Calling it attempted murder is hyperbole.
Bring back hanging.
The car's occupants, in their gross stupidity, seem really pleased with themselves.
Lucky for the cyclist that there wasn't a tree in his path and that it was a grass verge and not a concrete kerb he was pushed onto. Not that the idiots in the car gave any consideration to the cyclists landing.
Reported it on the RoadsafeLondon link shared earlier. Suggest others do likewise.

If you want to get something done, go to the top...
First off - filmed in portrait: that should be a crime in itself.
Secondly, how are people so stupid in this day and age? Film yourself/your mate committing a crime (probably a handful of crimes in fact) and post it on the internet for the world to see. Assuming the police and CPS are willing this sort of thing must be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Is this not the car?

" DN5I ZDH "?
The car is Peugeot 406. So it's not that
I think it's DN61 ZDH.
Nice colour, would be a real shame if it got scratched.
