Join us at A Beautiful Machine tonight in Bristol

Come along for some cycling related stimulation (in the dry) + beer, all for a good cause

Good Friday may have been a bit of a washout but if you're in the Bristol area join us for a beer and an evening of cycling-related stuff at A Beautiful Machine in Bristol. We'll be talking about road.cc and taking questions, and  if we we can sort the technology we'll stream proceedings live so if you can't make you can heckle us from the comfort of your own home.

We'll be talking about why we started road.cc, our favourite bits so far and what we've learned along the way. Word is the venue, above the Howies store in Bristol, doesn't have wireless broadband so we will be bringing our dongles along and hoping for the best…

As mentioned we're not the only attraction at tonight's event, the other two speakers will probably be more of a draw: Ben Hillson from Bristol Cycling City and Gavin Strange the man behind Böikzmöind the upcoming film about Bristol's fixed scene. Bristol council's handling of the cycling city project has come in for some local criticism and comment so it will be interesting to hear what Ben's got to say especially as the council now has less than 12 months to allocate the money given to it by Cycling England. Given that a fair chunk of the audience are going to be Bristol cyclists it should make for a lively Q&A

The other big attraction is the exhibition itself of a massive range of cycling inspired art and creativity… and there will also be beer. Venue is Howies Store, 62 Queens Road Bristol. It all kicks off at 7PM and we're told tickets are available on the door for £5 with the money raised going to Save the Children's Haiti Appeal.

A Beautiful Machine continues until 9 April and there are other events happening around it. On Sunday there will be a Critical Mass ride starting at the 3PM from fountains by the waterfront in the city centre and finishing at the Howies Store at 4PM from where the Cyclodelic Bicycle Treasure Hunt will begin.

On the 6th it's John Stevenson founder member of the Yorkshire Mountain Bike club and a man with knack for being in at the start of big moments in cycling will be giving a talk which should be well worth catching; Nick Hand whose Slowcoast ride took him around the Britain's coastline meeting artists and craftspeople should also be worth hearing; and they will be joined by James Fairbank of clothing brand Carhartt.

Finally on the 9th of April belt-driven round the world cycling record setter James Bowthorpe will be talking records and spinning some too, he'll be accompanied by Rapha designer, Graeme Raeburn (we're guessing talking rather than taking a turn on the decks, but you never know); plus Rob Lee of Syncros Endurance.
