Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was killed in Banbury. The incident, involving a blue Scania HGV, took place at 12.43pm on Wednesday November 4 on Ermont Way at the junction with A422 Hennef Way roundabout.
The BBC reports that the cyclist, a man in his twenties, died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.
Detective Sergeant Gavin Collier, from the Roads Policing Joint Operations Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either the cyclist or the heavy goods vehicle travelling prior to the collision.”
If you have any information, you can get in touch via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting reference URN 563 4/11. Alternatively, you can speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Elsewhere in Oxfordshire, police were called to another road traffic collision involving a cyclist and an HGV which took place in Oxford later the same day.
A 25-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries to her arm and head following an incident which took place on Watlington Road, near Lidl, at about 5.10pm.
She was taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital and is currently in a serious but stable condition.
Investigating officer, PC Matt Bowden of the Roads Policing Department based in Abingdon, said:
“The collision happened during a busy time of day, therefore it is possible that the incident was seen by a number of motorists and pedestrians.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision itself or the vehicles prior to the collision as they travelled towards Blackbird Leys to contact police by calling 101 or visiting their nearest police station.”
Again, you can also contact Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
