Firefighters have rescued a cyclist from a flooded river in Devon, with a video posted to Facebook showing the moment the rider and his bike were pulled to safety.
The incident happened on Jetty Marsh Road near Newton Abbott, where a tributary of the River Teign had flooded, with firefighters spending 40 minutes to rescue the man.

The video was shot by Mark Speed and according to BBC News the cyclist was checked over by paramedics afterwards and found to be unhurt.
Official advice from the Environment Agency is to “avoid walking, cycling or driving” through flood water.
Risks cyclists face include potentially strong currents, damaged road surfaces they may be unable to see through the water, and exposed manholes where the covers have been moved as a result of the flooding.

Luckily he was Highly Visible. Drivers might not see you but Firemen will.
40 minutes? Really?
I thought disc brakes were supposed to work in the wet?
Although the rider was so embarrassed he tried to camouflage his bike I could still see it.
What was he doing trying to cycle through it in the first place?
Same thing you see plenty of motorists doing....thinking "Ah it can't be that bad...".
