Figure-of-eight wooden velodrome for Cycle Messenger World Championships

Messengers book your tickets now, this looks like amazing racing

The Cycle Messenger World Championships taking place this coming September in Guatamala will be racing on a figure-of-eight shaped track called 'La Ocha'

The dates are 3rd - 13th September 2010 in Panajachel, Guatemala and this will be the 18th edition of the world championships for bike couriers.

The Ocha velodrome will be a resurrection of a track known as the Human Powered Rollercoaster used in Vancouver, Canada for the Annual Alleycats Scramble races in 1996 through to 1999.

In Canada, riders lapped the 125 metre plywood track at times between 12 and 15 seconds, with the fastest lap time recorded at 11.52 seconds.

According to Buffalo Bill of the Moving Target e-zine for bike messengers,  the special track resulted in "one of the most exciting cycling events I have been to."

Why did the chicken cross the Möbius strip? To get to the same side.

That joke slays 'em at mathematical conferences.

I liked it, but when I tried to share the comedy gold with my (engineer) colleagues, they didn't know what a Möbius strip was! V disappointing.
