A 50-year-old man has died after a crash involving three Raleigh Chopper riders on a road in Lancashire on Thursday evening.
According to police, three cyclists were riding as part of a larger group of Raleigh Chopper enthusiasts on Hill Lane, Colne when one of them, a 19-year-old woman, fell from her bike.
They say that two men riding behind her then collided with each other in the incident, which happened shortly before 10pm.
The man who died was taken initially to the Royal Blackburn Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital, where he died on Friday from head injuries.
The woman who crashed sustained bruising to her leg, while the other cyclist, a man aged 40, was uninjured.
In an initial statement issued prior to the man's death, a spokeswoman for Lancashire Constabulary said: "We were called to an incident in Hill Lane, Colne at 9.55pm on May 12.
"It appears that a group of three Raleigh chopper enthusiasts have been riding their bicycles downhill when one appears to have fallen off. "
The Pendle Raleigh Chopper group says on its website that it meets each Thursday for a group ride starting at 7pm in Foulridge, around a mile from where Thursday's incident happened, stopping at pubs for refreshments.
Police have since issued an appeal for witnesses, with Sergeant David Hurst saying: "These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with this man and his family.
"We are appealing for information and would ask anyone who can help to come forward and contact police.
"If you were in the Hill Lane area and witnessed the incident please contact us."
Anyone who has information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log reference 1637 of May 12.

Cycle enthusiast out for a social ride has died. Condolences to friends and family.
Not the place to restart a helmet debate by making inappropriate assumptions about a tragic incident that you know nothing about.
Stopping at pubs for "refreshments", you say?
Low speed accident .... fatal head injury .... Just the sort of thing a cycle helmet is designed to prevent ..... but looking at the photo galleries on their website, it would seem that common sense on their ride outs is optional ....
What a shame and what a waste of precious life.
R.I.P.
I wondered where you'd got to...
To be honest - and putting aside the helmet question- if they did have common sense then they wouldn't be riding Raleigh Choppers downhill on a road at night, would they?
You missed me? That is sweet.
Cycling trip to Fuerteventura, Morro Jable. Thoroughly recommend it. Great roads & cycle paths, stunning beaches and landscape and generally patient drivers and non-knobhead cyclists getting along just fine. Met some very nice people.
Depends on the steepness of the hills I guess... and quality of their lights. The combined cycle / pub crawl element is more problematic. The only person wearing a helmet in one of their 32 pic galleries looks like a 13 year old boy ... with more sense than the rest of them put together!
There is nothing to indicate it was a low speed crash. A quick look on google street view shows a reasonable hill which would be pretty exciting for somebody on a chopper, especially after being at the boozer at the top of the hill. There's also two 90* bends pretty close to each other. I would suggest that the lass has dropped her bike on the bend and the following fellas have collided with her and landed badly with very unfortunate results. We don't even know if the death was a result of face planting which a helmet would not have prevented. In fact a low speed crash would most likely have resulted in broken wrists as you would fling out your arms to break your fall. It is a very sad and unfortunate accident
Except that it was a leisurely group mixed gender ride out / pub crawl on Raleigh Choppers. I somehow doubt it was a chain gang training ride ...
I wasn't going to mention it...
1-year old woman?
