Video: Taxi driver chases and stops hit and run driver (contains strong language)
A London taxi driver reportedly chased and apprehended a motorist who had hit a cyclist before driving off. A video of the pursuit, uploaded to YouTube, shows Birol Koca blocking the driver responsible before asking him to get out of his car.
Underneath the video, which was uploaded on June 13, Koca wrote that the cyclist was hit at the junction of Fentiman Road and Meadow Road. “I came out of Rita Road and done a left into Meadow Road after dropping off and see the little s**** slammed into the cyclist then shot off down fentiman road towards Clapham Road.”
Police confirmed to road.cc that they were called by London Ambulance Service to the Meadow Road junction with Fentiman Road, SW8 at 6.57pm on Tuesday, June 13 where it was reported that a car had been in collision with a cyclist.
Explaining the video, Koca said: “This Hit and Run motorist thought that he could get away after smashing into female cyclist and seriously injuring her I did a Sweeney on him & wedge him against a keep left island on a crossing and apprehend him until the police arrived and arrested him, Warning! Bad language you might need ear plugs.”

I'm all for motorists standing up for cyclists, but....
...Watching the video it doens't appear to me that he was driving very responsibly in his haste to track down the silver Astra, and members of the public really shouldn't be chasing people through the streets like this. If he'd been in a position to stop the car fleeing the scene of the accident then fair enough, but he wasn't.
Nah. He drove skillfully and was very level headed in his approach.
I reckon more members of the public should grow a pair of balls proportionate to their level of skill. If you can help track down a criminal and do so reponsibly then do it.
Too easy to sit on the sidelines and snipe at people who have a pair and did something worthwhile.
I agree with you in many senses but this was a hit and run. Not stopping the guy at the time could mean he was never brought to book. It's all too often the case.
I couldn't see that he endangered anyone with his driving - he gave the cyclist more room than many more leisurely drivers!
Bloody immigrants, coming over here being really public spirited thouroughly decent human beings.
He took a personal risk doing that.
While some try to persuade us we are in some kind of urban jungle death match with each other, it's nice to see a video of someone simply looking out for a fellow road user.

Excellent - That was a brave thing that taxi driver did. He wouldn't have known what kind of person he was dealing with.
Proof indeed that all taxi drivers are not wankers. Pretty much like most cyclists aint either.
Sweet! Need more people like this guy. Nice flitering between the cars and cyclists to catch him too, safe as you could go in a chase in those circumstances.
