Essex Police issue appeal to help find missing cyclist who suffers from dementia

79-year-old last seen in Chelmsford yesterday afternoon

Police in Essex have asked the public to keep an eye out for a cyclist suffering from dementia who has gone missing.

Michael Lewis, aged 79, was last seen yesterday afternoon at 2pm when he left his home in Chelmsford to go on a bike ride, reports the Daily Gazette.

It is not the first time the dementia sufferer has gone missing on a bike ride – previously he was found in Harlow, six hours after leaving Chelmsford.

Police say that Mr Lewis is white, around 5 foot 10, and dressed in a long-sleeved checked shirt and dark-green cargo pants, and would be riding a blue Falcon bicycle with beige saddlebag.

Anyone with information that can help police trace Mr Lewis is asked to contact Essex Police on 0300 333 4444.

When he gets home -

do we have anyone in Essex who could go out riding with him? Sounds like he just needs a hand with navigation etc.
