It's a shame he got hit. But what a knob! Walter Mitty on a bike. He thinks he is some sort of bike ranger. "All the gear and no idea" more like! He can't even signal correctly or look over his arogant shoulder. Thank goodness there is only one of him giving cyclists a bad name.
He doens't do any harm, as far as I can make out. Possibly even a bit of good, overall.
Unlike the types who keep repeating the 'giving us a bad name' drivel.
Agree. If he was a motorcyclist he would have failed his test for not looking behind. These 'lifesavers' not only do what they say they also make a phsychological bond with the driver - "you run me over and I'll come back and haunt you" sort of thing. Get connected!
Think he would have failed test at 1:19 stopping without using both brakes.
I see he gives good hand signals for direction changes etc but he doesn't look when making the lane change etc.
Actually no, the right turn signal he gives at about 44s is just rubbish, a sort of quarter of an excuse for a signal, which would probably not be recognised by other road users.
that is the funniest thing I've seen all day! - thanks guys
Slow news day
Some of these Youtube cyclists do seem to be actively looking for friction on the roads. Obviously this isn't one such video but there's so many that ride like bell-ends and then start carrying on the moment a driver does something like come within 3ft of them.
Walking across the city centre last night (not riding yesterday, on the bus instead) I saw three accidents where cars ran into the back of other cars as they were all sitting in stationary traffic which started to move. In about ten minutes. I think maybe some people just aren't paying attention out there...
How long is the selfie stick on his bike? Is that entirely safe to ride around with a big pole sticking out the front like some 18th century sailing ship?
It's a wide-angle camera and I'd estimate it to be only marginally longer than some TT bars. I'd suggest his biggest threat is the car ploughing into him from behind, not the camera position.
Au contraire. I've seen him out and about around London with that pole on the front (it's hard to miss it) and it must've stuck a good 2 feet out beyond the shifters, waaaay longer than your standard tri bars. It's a wonder he can actually steer properly and I should think he must have to be very careful not to spear fellow cyclists!
In fairness this was a couple of years ago and IIRC the pole was white then (rather than the black it seems to be now), so he may have refined his setup a bit since.
OK fair enough, but I was thinking more about the threat he was posing to others with what appeared to be a long pointy stick at the prow of his bike.
Out jousting in traffic...
Video is approx 1yr old with 56 videos posted since then.
This is a collision with the driver at 100% fault, but this is not content for the "News" section of this site.
One of the "latest" videos?
