Video: German sets new world record for world's heaviest rideable bike
A man from Germany is claiming a new Guinness World Record for the world’s heaviest rideable bicycle.
Frank Dose, aged 49 and from Schleswig-Holstein, rode his self-built bike 100 metres at the weekend, and is now waiting for Guinness World Records to certify his effort.
The existing benchmark stood at 860 kilograms, but Dose’s machine – with tyres recycled from an agricultural muck-spreader – weighed in at a whopping 1.08 tonnes.
He hit a top speed of 5 kilometres an hour during his record-breaking attempt, which won’t win him any Strava KOMs, but still … chapeau!

looks like he could do with a bike fitting...
So he's a truck driver and was inspired to build this by watching the ships go by along the canal.
I had an unkind thought watching the video as it struck me that if he rode a few laps of a velodrome on this it'd probably be as well for his health given his size and sedentary profession.
Anyway, a chapeau to the man for this charmingly bonkers piece of engineering and I particularly like the use of the beer crate for the seat.
I'll be impressed when he pulls a wheelie.
Could have got an American to ride it, thus increasing the weight by 25%.
Stabilisers?
I'd ditched mine before I was forty.
And here I am... Complaining that my bike is heavy at 9kg including pedals, bottlecages, Garmin etc.
Hulk like Hulk's new bike. Hulk smash club ride. Hulk drop puny humans. Hulk appreciate laterally stiff and vertically compliant ride quality.
Awesome. I think the seat is some sort of beer crate. Apparently the German for hat is Hut, which may not catch on as an expression of admiration.
