One gear for winter: you know it makes sense

Just when I was wondering about converting the old urban machine to a singlespeed for a bit to ward off the dreaded gear gremlins, what should arrive but Ridgeback's singlespeed Winter trainer, the Solo World. It comes with a 48/18 freewheel setup – the rear hub is a flip flop so you could bung a fixed sprocket on the other side – and is specced up for the grottier months with full 'guards, though the 25mm Conti Ultra Race rubber looks a touch slight for the intended use, we'll see. The frame is Reynolds 520, the fork carbon, and the retail price is £587.
