As one of the world’s top ultracyclists you’d expect Kristof Allegaert to be resourceful. And as a Belgian you’d expect him to know a thing or two about beer.
So here he is showing his skills in opening a bottle of beer with the help of the cleat on the bottom of his cycling shoe.
After all, in a self-supported sport where it’s essential to keep weight to the bare minimum, it’s worth having some items of kit that are multifunctional.
The trick was a new one on Juliana Buhring, who posted a video of Allegaert’s bottle-opening technique to Facebook.
The pair both competed in last month’s Indian Wheel Pacific Race, during which their friend Mike Hall – founder of the Transcontinental race, which has been won by Allegaert three times – was killed.

I agree with essexian - can't think of any reason beyond the council/contractors forgot when they resurfaced the road at some point between 2014...
