Video: Hundreds ride to funeral of cyclist killed in Northern Ireland

Hundreds of cyclists rode in procession to the funeral on Saturday of Gavin Moore, a committee member of North Down Cycling Club who was killed last Tuesday.

Eight cyclists flanked the hearse carrying Mr Moore's body while around 300 others - many in the club's pink and black kit - followed behind. Video of the riders was originally posted to the club's Facebook page by Fiona Simpson.

They were joined in the emotional tribute by members of other cycling clubs in Northern Ireland.

Mr Moore, aged 40 and a father of two, died on Tuesday after a 59-year-old motorist crashed into a club ride.

Two other cyclists, Gareth Boyle and Keith Freel, were taken to hospital. Mr Freel, who sustained concussion, was released during the week.

In an update on Mr Boyle's condition posted to its Facebook page on Thursday, North Down Cycling Club said: "He is currently going through an operation on his back to try and repair the broken bones.

"They were also going to put a plate on his broken ribs but it's looking like it thankfully won't be needed.

"He will still need a further operation to repair his elbow," the club added.
