Since writing his first bike review for road.cc back in early 2009 senior product reviewer Stu has tested more than a thousand pieces of kit, and hundreds of bikes.
With an HND in mechanical engineering and previous roles as a CNC programmer/machinist, draughtsman and development engineer (working in new product design) Stu understands what it takes to bring a product to market. A mix of that knowledge combined with his love of road and gravel cycling puts him in the ideal position to put the latest kit through its paces.
He first made the switch to road cycling in 1999, primarily for fitness, but it didn’t take long for his competitive side to take over which led to around ten years as a time triallist and some pretty decent results. These days though riding is more about escapism, keeping the weight off and just enjoying the fact that he gets to ride the latest technology as part of his day job.

what have I let myself in for... I'll have to do some training, eat healthily and do some planning.
It's going to be epic
Oh bollocks!
Cricket!
I have a 7 month old, so don't get sleep anyway!
I'd be up for this
What a brilliant way this would be to rectify a triathlon heavy season!
I'm up for this, I'm local and have a good set of lights, (and a ropey set of legs)!
I may regret this, but, count me in.
6 and a bit hours each of riding should be fairly full on.
Count me in.
Count me in.
Who needs sleep anyway!! I’m in
I am silly enough to think this is a good idea.
This sounds like a reason to train for next month! I'm in.
I'd be up for it
I would love the chance to be part of the ROAD CC team for this great event,
I win my commute every day
I’m ready for this
I would love this please.
Also if it gives me more of a chance of winning I'll bring my campervan!
Pick me! Pick me!
(But only if you don't want to win...)
In the spirit of "it's not the winning, it's the taking part", I'd like to offer my services too!
I’m keen..
YES PLEASE!!!!!
I'm free
Was car doored on Thursday, out of hospital yesterday, had to withdraw from all my hill climbs, at a loss of what to do with myself. This might give a bit of focus!
Count me in indeed
Fat bloke reporting for duty
I'd give that a go!
Sounds like fun, count me in
Would love to be part of #teamroadcc
I'd love to give this a go.
Can't ride it, but I live nearby so I'm hoping to pop by and support. I'll bring you some biscuits.
