$50,000 raised for cyclist sacked for flipping the bird at Donald Trump

Meanwhile, job offers flood in for Juli Briskman .... or is it a case of Fake News?

GoFundMe campaign set up for a woman sacked from her job after she was pictured raising her middle finger at Donald Trump as she cycled alongside the presidential motorcade has raised $50,000 in just four days.

Government contractor Akima last week sacked Juli Briskman, aged 50, telling  her she had violated its social media policy for employees by using a picture of her flipping the bird to Trump on her Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The GoFundMe page was set up by Rob Mello, who wrote: “Juli Briskman is an inspiration to us all.  This week we learned that she was fired from her employer for exercising her first amendment rights.”

> "You're fired!" - Cyclist who gave Trump the middle finger gets the sack

Meanwhile, a story on ExtraNewsFeed that claimed Briskman had received getting on for half a million job offers following her dismissal has been taken at face value by a lot of people on social media - but turns out to be what the 45th President of the United States would term, accurately in this instance, "FAKE NEWS!"

According to the satirical story, one of the offers came from a certain Lucy Clementori, supposedly the owner of a chain of fitness centres, quoted as saying: “She can take over our spin classes and teach everyone that great presidential salute!”

A person named Norm LaForge, apparently the founder of a business that puts up mobile phone masts, was also cited: “It took guts to do what she did, giving the finger to The Great White Dope. That kind of chutzpah makes a great salesperson.”

With a nod to the one of Trump’s catchphrases on reality TV show, The Apprentice, his 'quote' finished: “She’s hired.”

Finally, the article quoted Darlene Ranalin, said to be a PR firm owner  from Boston : “I don’t have any openings, but I’ll find a place for her anyway.

“I guess President Drumpf was right after all, he really is creating new jobs.”

Glad she got sacked. Disrespectful in the extreme to do that to any politician. Use your vote and then accept the result, whichever way it goes.

That's a very strange opinion and possibly very dangerous. Politicians have a history of getting into power and then using it to pursue wars and possibly genocide.

e.g. Mugabe, Franco, Al-Bashir, Schwe, Stalin, Pol Pot, Bush, Blair, Hitler...

It's not only our right, but our duty to keep politicians in line.

a)She didnt get sacked for giving Trump the finger, rather using the pic on her social media profile associated with work.

b)Once someone has won a vote you just lie down and accept everything they do going forward? That's proper nuts.

What a bizarre thing to say. I don't think you understand what democracy is.

Getting sacked for giving your opinion of possibly the worst example of a mysoginistic, vain, arrogant, stupid politician ever to achieve office hardly seems appropriate.  And by the way, he lost the election by about 5m votes, but because of the absurd US system, he got elected.

I reckon she might by now have one or two regrets about doing what she did.

I flipped a finger at Theresa May and Boris Johnson when they were in the same car:  where do I collect my £100,000?

Any idiot that believes this story is true is...um, well, an idiot. 500,000 job offers - yeah...whatever, the only way she could calculate that in the lapsed time would be if she was an expert in machine learning content crawling alogrythims.

Any idiot that didn't read this story carefully is...um, well, an idiot.

Next time you want to pass as intellectually superior, try to spell "algorithms" correctly, Poindexter.

The story is fake news - anyone that believes it's real is an idiot. If that means I want to pass as intellectually superior, so be it....but its hardly rocket science.

This has nothing to do with cycling.

Meanwhile, UK police agencies are busy jailing people for posting truthful Tweets.

But let's not let that stop anyone from talking about freedom.

Superb.

I wonder if there's a need for professional hecklers to follow politicians around and give suitable opinions.

Why not? Professional black/minority ethnics are paid to follow politicians around in order to boost their  multicultural credentials.
