I thought the closure was suspended at the moment due to the ongoing gas works in Cannon Street.
It's currently suspended east-west only while the works on Cannon street are done then back to Buses and cyclists only.
Loads of vehicles still going through Bank junction. Let’s hope the CCTV is good enough to pick up the number plates.
The vehicles that go through there are of two kinds, I believe. The first are large black Mercedes, Audi and Porsche that probably cost what I paid for my house, because the owners probably use £130 just to wipe their arse.
The others are commercial vehicles: flat bed lorries, deliveries etc. They can just pass on the cost of the penalty to their customers. My missus works for a company that got a bill for work done and included in the bill was the Bank Junction penalty and two parking tickets. She was going to tell them to f**k off, but her boss just shrugged and said, 'Oh whatever - just pay it'.
First time I cycled through following the closure I was so amazed I just pootled though looking around in shock. It was so peaceful and quiet when before it was noisy, busy and intimidating. I hope The City don't change back. Though I doubt any of the thousands of pedestrians who use the area would want to go back to what it was.
Well; who would Adam & Eve it?
+1 collision with cyclist, guy went straight across me
+30-40 near misses with pedestrians in my experience
