Three in four Swiss voters have backed a proposal enshrining cycling in the country’s federal constitution in a referendum. The question of whether “promoting bike paths” should be added to an existing provision of promoting footpaths and hiking trails was supported by 73.6 per cent of the electorate.

5. Bristol council investigates complaint against community bike project run from man's home - and gives scheme its backing
This complaint backfired in a positive way for Ian ‘Scotty’ Scott, who runs a project from the back garden of his council house that refurbishes unwanted bikes so they can be given to those who need them. After his neighbour lodged the complaint, Bristol City Council inspected only to find they wanted to support the scheme further. Way to go, Scotty!

The Australian was in rich form after winning two time trial stages at the Vuelta earlier this month to add to a stage victory against the clock in May’s Giro d’Italia. He was in a different class in this race, completing the 52.1-kilometre route in 1 hour 2 minutres and 3 seconds, well over a minute faster than the next closest rider, defending champion Tom Dumoulin.

9. Cycling UK produces close pass VR film for police forces across the UK
Cycling UK is looking to supply police throughout the country with a virtual reality film that will educate drivers about the dangers of passing cyclists too closely. The national cycling charity is looking to raise £15,000 to provide the film and a VR headset to every UK police force free of charge.
