Here’s a rarity for our Near Miss of the Day series – an incident in which the perpetrator is a cyclist, who left-hooks another rider at a junction of the CS3 Cycle Superhighway in London's Hyde Park.
It was filmed by road.cc reader Simon. Keep an eye on the right hand side of the frame and you’ll see the cyclist in yellow overtaking the rider in black before immediately turning left.
Simon told us: “Just to prove that it isn't just motor vehicles that have the monopoly on left hooks, here's someone on their morning cycle commute that was in such a hurry to get to work that he was happy to cut up this gentleman on his way somewhere.
I guess he wasn't going fast enough for the guy in yellow.
> Near Miss of the Day turns 100 - Why do we do the feature and what have we learnt from it?
Over the years road.cc has reported on literally hundreds of close passes and near misses involving badly driven vehicles from every corner of the country – so many, in fact, that we’ve decided to turn the phenomenon into a regular feature on the site. One day hopefully we will run out of close passes and near misses to report on, but until that happy day arrives, Near Miss of the Day will keep rolling on.
If you’ve caught on camera a close encounter of the uncomfortable kind with another road user that you’d like to share with the wider cycling community please send it to us at info [at] road.cc or send us a message via the road.cc Facebook page.
If the video is on YouTube, please send us a link, if not we can add any footage you supply to our YouTube channel as an unlisted video (so it won't show up on searches).
Please also let us know whether you contacted the police and if so what their reaction was, as well as the reaction of the vehicle operator if it was a bus, lorry or van with company markings etc.

The hooker must have thought they were on Zwift.
When are you going to review that new Audi bike?
What a muppet. I can't believe he didn't slide out on that turn with the wet gravel all over the road.
If he's reading this, I think he should apologise for his actions and let us know what tyres he's running so I can go out and buy some.
Some idiots everywhere.
Almost a shame that they didnt touch - the nutter would have most likely come off much worse.
Camera man may have got hit though!
Good shortcut keys if you want to frame by frame it fullstop and comma.
MGIF MGIF MGIF can't wait can't wait
It looks like the incident took place in a London park, what a womble
it wasn't so much a MGIF,as an idiot determined to keep going at maximum speed, instead of slowing to turn safely behind the other cyclist - he did have the skills to get it done without causing an accident but why attempt a high risk maneuvre to save a few seconds?
What a nob. If he had the moves he'd have bunny hopped the kerb.
Note: I can't bunny hop to save my life, I would die if I attempted it.
No HiViz, otherwise the guy in yellow wouldn't never'ave dunnit.
And the guy in black didn't have a lid
Wouldn't happen if these lycra louts paid road tax, did a test, knew the highway code, got off the pavement, got off the road, used every cyle lane, forded every stream, rant, Brexit bong, Daily Telegraph.
clearly photoshopped, a clever fake by the motor industry to make cyclists look bad!
Or idiots are idiots regardless what mode of travel they choose....
Just think; we wouldn't even have seen it if 'Simon' hadn't been salmonning out of the carpark. Might have been interesting if 'Simon' & the MAMIL had collided due only to slightly different timing.
'It was your fault'.
'No, it was F*%@ing you!' etc. etc.
It's in Hyde Park, London - "Simon" has (probably) ridden along the north shore of the Serpentine and is currently going the wrong way out of the one-way car park off West Carriage Drive by the Sackler Gallery to head north up the cycle path to Bayswater Rd/Paddington. He could equally have been faced with a car driving in to park, which they quite often do. Furthermore, as "Simon" is going uphill, and anyone going in the opposite direction is going downhill, and with quite some speed, "Simon" is likely to come off worse from the encounter. Still, two wrongs don't make a right....
Having commuted that route myself for a year, that cycle path can be a right nighmare, especially in summer, as it gets cluttered with oblivious pedestrians, electric scooter riders, clueless tourists and numpties on Boris Bikes, so whilst not condoning it, I do have some sympathy for anyone wanting to get from A to B in an efficient manner...
Typical MGIF motorist not caring about other road users...
Wait a minute! What the hell's going on here!
Heresy!.jpeg
