Wiggle Super Series adds bonus event after New Forest 100 sells out in record time

Demand has been so high for the 1200 places on the New Forest 100 Sportive, the final event of the Wiggle Super Series on the 2nd of October that organisers UK Cycling Events have decided to lay on a bonus Saturday New Forest 100 Sportive over the same course to cater for all those that didn't get a place on the main Sunday ride.

The Saturday sportive will have a field limited to 500 riders and, say the organisers, will boast all the same features as the Sunday ride… well the route is the same for a start, and there will be the choice of the same 100 or 66mile routes depending on whether you want to go for an imperial or metric '100'. You can also expect electronic timing, well stocked feed stations, mechanical support, massages, bike wash facilities (not sure whether you have to pay extra for those last two) a finisher's medal and a goody bag worth £10. It goes without saying that the course will be well marked. Anyone booking for the bonus event before midnight on the 4th of September will also get a free High5 nutrition pack worth £12.

Organiser Martin Barden, of UK Cycling Events, said: "We were delighted when the New Forest 100 Sportive sold out in record time. When more and more road bike riders kept requesting places, adding another event on the Saturday seemed like the perfect solution. We did a similar Saturday sportive in April when our Spring Sportive sold out early and it was very well received."

Here at road.cc we've alway liked the idea of Saturday sportives and are surprised there aren't more in the calendar. We will certainly be interested to see how the Saturday version of the New Forest 100 goes down as it's an event that a number of the road.cc team have put in an appearance at in the past.
