Garmin add Meyer to line up for Saturday's Edinburgh Nocturne

This Saturday's Edinburgh Nocturne will feature two top riders straight from racing in the Giro d'Italia. Garmin-Slipstream’s Cameron Meyer will join team-mate David Millar racing around the streets of Edinburgh on 30 May.
 
The addition of the Garmin Slipstream riders provides another challenge for the leading UK teams to take on in the Elite Criterium. The pair will arrive fresh out of the Giro d’Italia, where Millar has been riding to regain form after a broken collarbone and Meyer has been riding for Grand Tour experience.

Meyer is best know as a track cyclist, this year the Australian ace won the 2009 World Track Championships in the points race at the tender age of 21. He will be racing against one of the riders that joined on the podium at the worlds, Rapha-Condor’s Chris Newton who will also line up at the Edinburgh Nocturne.
 
“I expect the racing to be of top standard with many world class riders in the field. It will be a hard, fast and exciting race. The Nocturne Series catches the attention of professional riders and with great venues, big crowds and top racing, I am very happy to have been invited to race,” said Meyer.
 
“The Giro has been an unbelievable experience with very hard racing. I will come to the Edinburgh Nocturne race with good fitness after racing the Giro and hope to perform well at the event,” he added. Meyer retired from the Giro after Stage 13 so will have had just over a week to recover, while his teammate Millar will have slightly less, he pulled out the Italian race on Sunday during stage 15.
