Now this looks like fun…

Misty & atmospheric roadie action from Bath Uni CC… sponsored by road.cc

The chaps (actually they're not just chaps) from Bath Uni.cc have posted another of their videos of them out for some misty and moody action on the roads around Bath… they even managed to sniff out a flat bit, although they'll have had to climb up there first.

Beside the Peloton: Bath Uni CCTV from Bath Uni CC on Vimeo.

If you're from around Bath you can spot the hills "oh look there's the bit where my front disc calliper popped out… that was memorable" crossed my mind at one point. The fast descent will be familiar to anyne who rode up it to grab a coffee with us at the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club a few weeks back, in fact it's not much more than a stone's throw from our front door. If you're not from these parts it really doesn't matter this is the sort of vid that simply makes you want to go out and ride your bike.

We'll have a report of the recent hill climb coming soon.

Tony's journey in cycling media started in 1997 as production editor and then deputy editor of Total Bike, acting editor of Total Mountain Bike and then seven years as editor of Cycling Plus. He launched his first cycling website - the Cycling Plus Forum at the turn of the century. In 2006 he left C+ to head up the launch team for Bike Radar which he edited until 2008, when he co-launched the multi-award winning road.cc - finally handing on the reins in 2021 to Jack Sexty. His favourite ride is his ‘commute’ - which he does most days inc weekends and he’s been cycle-commuting since 1994. His favourite bikes are titanium and have disc brakes, though he'd like to own a carbon bike one day.

I like it. It works with the mood. Any music is better than the usual pumping eurodisco that accompanies most cycle films. I'm sick of all those shaky Mallorca films with sub Bronski Beat over the top For a great meld of cycling and music check out the closing credits of this year's ITV4 TDF coverage with ACDC's It a long way to the top ( if you wanna rock n' roll). Now that's riding music!

I'd love a team car - but tossing the wheel away?? We have a running joke in our club whenever anyone get's a puncture 'Go on! Chuck the bike on the floor and stand there with your hands on your hips like you're waiting for a new bike.'

OK I admit that song is unlikely to appear on pitchfork.com or any well regarded music blog but what's-yo-beef? Think the lads have done well.

If only more cycling clubs were as active, diverse, fun, sociable and well promoted and as Bath Uni CC

Errrrrrr try Zappi's Club in Oxford. The most welcoming and diverse bunch of riders you'll find anywhere, and they can eat alot of cake. 1

Trust me, a support car on our uni club runs is not a usual occurance! We dont take kindly to guys who turn up without spares (or the knowledge of how to use them). It was more that I was using it to film out of anyway, and thought "why not see what it's like to have a support car!"

'Awful' really? Come on, we can do better than that can't we? Personally, I liked it and some of the best new music I've been introduced to over the last decade has been through home grown videos just like that. I find myself looking for music credits all the time. Not always but then I can accept that not everyone's taste in music is the same as mine.
