Video Preview: Gung-ho attacks on Gun Hill in Tour of Britain Stage 5?

IG-Sigma Sport's Daniel Lloyd takes a look at the Stoke-on-Trent stage...

We're now at the halfway point of this year's Tour of Britain and it's already proving to be a cracking race with plenty of talking points. Here, Daniel Lloyd of IG-Sigma Sport, in another video for race sponsors IG Markets, previews tomorrow's Stage 5 which starts and finishes in Stoke-on-Trent and takes in the climb of Gun Hill, a itinerary that has firmly established itself as one of the race's signature stages in recent years.

Kristian House of Rapha-Condor-Costa will no doubt be keen to get in the break again tomorrow as he seeks to tighten his grip on the King of the Mountains jersey - last year's winner, former team mate Jonathan Tiernan Locke, now with Endura Racing, also attacked on Gun Hill last year and may fancy his chances here.

While it was Team Sky that forced the pace towards the end of the stage, both they and HTC Highroad, with a line-up that featured Mark Cavendish, missed out as eventual overall winner Lars Boom led Rabobank team mate Michael Matthews across the line.

As last year showed, it's a stage where plenty can happen and one that could also be influential in terms of the overall. A sprint finish is one possibility, although as Lloyd points out, Gun Hill is where a selection can be made and only comes 30km from the end. Don't bet against the fifth stage of the race producing the fifth different wearer of the IG Markets gold leader's jersey this year.
