seriously if this cretin doesn't get done for manslaughter at the minimum we should all be out on the streets protesting that enough is enough and the law is an ass!!
You're right, we should be on the streets protesting about all the injustices. It makes me froth at the mouth and think seriously about imposing my own penalties should such a tragedy befall family or friends of my own. I certainly wouldn't rely on the CPS filth or magistrate scumbags (and it is them that are at fault). The law is there it just isn't being implemented or the correct penalties are not being imposed. Remember if you go for a swim and hold up some pointless posh boys rowing event you get 6 months and £750 costs.
the guardian report is suggesting the suspect was being followed by a police car and when asked to stop didn't.
I wonder what the penalty for killing drivers is, "it was only in self defence officer."
Just to clarify (as we do in the follow up story), a lot of media outlets are incorrectly reporting that it was a police pursuit; we spoke to Avon & Somerset Police, and it wasn't.
A pursuit needs senior authorisation and the police vehicle would have been following closely, neither of which applied here.
Sun is low at sunset? Well, that's unexpected, isn't it? If you can't see well enough, slow down until you can! Stop if needed.
It sounds like this driver should be up for two counts of manslaughter but I bet he won't.
I was being sarcastic. The sun excuse has been used many times so far and I would not be surprised his lawyer plays this card again.
Mmmmh I think you are all very unfair. At this time of the year the sun is very low at 4pm...
How the hell can someone be so callous as to leave the scene of the accident it beggars beleif, i know capital punishment is a thorny issue but its time for a detterent or harsh prison sentence.
Because he walked into the police station of his own accord, the judge will like that and dismiss the case......
You could admit to a crime and the CPS would say there was insufficient evidence to bring a case.
He probably got home, got on google and realised he'd only get a £35 fine and 3 points so he might as well take the rap.
That will be right!Steal cash 15 years kill with a car 3 points and 100 pound fine sad but true
Surely that should be a £70 fine? Unless the Court is doing a 2 for 1 special offer? Very sick; but at least he has handed himself in. I suspect the instinct to run is pretty overpowering in this circumstance; I do not suppose that you think rationally. Hopefully justice will be done
[[[[ Avon & Somerset police: "We attended.....a single-vehicle road traffic accident". Hmmm...no other "vehicles" involved, then.
P.R.
Simply dreadful, condolences to their families. Hope the driver does the right thing and hands themselves in.
He has done:

So bearing that in mind, the charge will probably be dangerous driving.
