Trigon showed us a whole bunch of new and redesigned products last week at Taipei Cycle, and here are the highlights.
These (main pic and below) are the redesigned CW02 tubular wheels with 45mm-deep rims. They’re full carbon with the spokes bonded to the hub. Of course, that has both upsides and downsides. A spoke can’t become unthreaded, obviously, but if you do have a smash and damage the wheels, they have to go back to the factory for repair.
The current CW02s have 16 spokes at the front and 18 at the rear. The 2014 front wheel has just 12 spokes although they’re sticking with 18 at the back.
Trigon give a rim weight of just 410g and a complete wheelset weight of 1,190g. Next year’s price will be roughly $2,500, but we don’t have a UK price (we don’t have prices on any products from the 2014 catalogue).
The CWC40 wheels are full-carbon clinchers in a 40mm depth. They’re disc brake only – there’s no braking track on the rim. Trigon are open with the fact that they’ve not been happy with the performance of the full-carbon rim-brake clinchers that they’ve worked on so they’ve not released any.
These come with sealed bearings, stainless J-bend spokes, and weigh 1,450g. For reference, the current CWC38 wheels from Trigon are £899.99 at www.trigon-cycles.co.uk.
This carbon seatpost contains a titanium spring plate that goes right around the curved section. Trigon reckon that it will flex up to 25mm, compared to a standard post that’ll flex maybe 20% of that. They've tested it on riders up to 120kg... which covers pretty much everyone.
This TB01 track bar came out last year. It’s designed to be super-rigid with the drops giving you a very aggressive ride position.
The new VCS06 saddle comes with a carbon monocoque top and Trigon’s patented carbon rails that are designed to give a generous amount of flex. See those flattened sections at the front and back of the rails? They're the clever bit, we're told.
Carbon-topped saddles aren’t to everyone’s taste but the main benefit, of course, is the lack of weight; this model comes in at just 85g. Again, for reference, the current VCS03 is £99.99.
Trigon have updated the TX001 cyclocross frameset with a new disc brake arrangement inside the rear triangle. It’s a full-carbon monocoque using oversized tubing and integrated carbon dropouts.
The head tube is tapered (1 1/8in to 1 1/2in) and you get an oversized bottom bracket. Trigon claim a 1,090g frame weight (that’s a painted up 54cm model). The current model is £1,299.99.
The TR001 road bike is a lot like the TX001 cyclocross design in that it’s a high modulus carbon monocoque with oversized tubing, a tapered head tube (1 1/8in-1 1/2in), and an oversized bottom bracket. The cable routing is internal and the bike is compatible with Shimano Di2 and Campagnolo EPS electronic shifting. Trigon give a frame weight of 1,200g (55cm model, painted).
The TT002 time trial frame is similar to the Culprit Legend but, unlike the Legend, it comes with seatstays in place, and that means it’s built quite differently around the chainstays too. Plus, whereas the Legend is disc brake compatible, the TT002 isn’t. These differences mean that the TT002 is UCI legal.
You have two braking options: Shimano direct mount of TRP TTV brakes. The stem sits flush with the top tube and need to use a Trigon or a Pro option here, as you do with the Legend.

I don't know why but I find that seat-post super aesthetically pleasing. Want!
interesting saddle ... I had a unicanitor ages ago
[[[[ Hmmm...Unicanitor, eh? Did you acquire it on a Campag-equipped CONDOR ITALIA velo I sadly sold many moons ago? No, don't be daft. However, that perch was nothing but a piece of moulded and drilled plastic, on alloy rails, and I rode millions---well, a great many--- miles on it, and never felt a thing. It weighed, as you'll remember, next to nowt, and cost very little. Think I'll scour the ads for another. Carbon Shmarbon.
