Aldi Performance Cycle clothing sale this Thursday

Got the bib in large and I'm pleased with it. I'm 6' 4" and quite, ahem, chunky and it seems to fit well in all the right places. It is my first bib (well, since I was about 4) so I've nothing to compare it to, but at £30 I can't complain.

Still plenty of stock in Trowbridge Aldi, if you're unfortunate enough to live around that way.

Got the bib tights tonight. Very weird when on. Too baggy around the thighs and groin area. I have quite skinny legs though. They look odd too.
Pad very thin. Would need some more padding for a ride of more than a few hours definately. Fit is a bit off too for me. I am 6'2, 32"leg and 34 waist. I got the large size. Ok on calfs, too loose on thighs/groin but also felt a bit on the short size legs wise. Gonna take them back and try to get a jacket following the good reports here!
As an aside when I checked the receipt there was a egyptian cotton duvet cover for £7.99 which I definately didn't buy!!
It pays to check your receipts every time.
Got some socks too. They are very nice. Well worth £3.99.
Got a refund for bibs no problem.
Addendum: got the jacket when i took the bib tights back. However had to return that too as it was too short for me by a good couple of inches back and front. Shame as it seemed a very nice jacket. I have a long body & short legs. (Relatively speaking!) Refund no problem.

Gave the performance trousers a go on the short commute to work this morning. First time in lycra for me too.

Quite impressed, especially for £20. I agree with the other comments that the fitting is on the generous side, so if you prefer a tighter look then I'd suggest going a size down. For me it was fine, and spared my work colleagues' blushes when I arrived this morning!

They otherwise kept me warm and the wind out, but it wasn't raining so I can't comment on the water-repellence. The seat pad is perhaps a little thin, I probably won't be doing 4 hour rides in them, but for commuting they're fine.

I'm inclined to go back tomorrow and see what else is still available.

Really pleased with jacket, very good. Agree with the size down comments. Taking the bib tights back, chamois poor as is the non-stretch windproof panel on front. Socks seem good value.

Might pick up another jacket when take tights back tomorrow (if any left?)

Just bought the Aldi Performance jacket for £29 from the Aldi at Finchley. This is a good jacket. Really good styling and fit (just tried it on at home) and the jacket has clearly been made to a high standard of quality assurance. I'm a 39 inch chest and the Medium is a really good fit for me. The shop still had a lot of the performance kit in stock including small sizes. If you are local I'd recommend a trip there.

I went to the Kingsbury Aldi at 10:00 today. There was still lots of cycling stuff left. The only people there were fighting over woolie boots. I bought a jersey, jacket, socks and bibs. All the sizing is quite relaxed, would recommend going a size down from what it says on the packaging. All of it seems like really good quality for the price. The bibs are strange, they have a windproof front but arent that stretchy and chamois is quite thin. The jersey and jacket are both very good, the jersey has some nice details like a storm flap and windproof front and the jacket is a typical softshell but looks like it will last. All of it would be good for commuting, not sure about Sunday rides though. If you are still looking for some I reckon there will still be plenty left in stock in Kingsbury, not really a cycling area.

Managed to get hold of a pair of the "performance" trousers. Haven't tried them out yet but the quality seems good for the price (£20), and I'm sure they'll do a reasonable job of keeping the elements out on my 10-minute commute to work.

I have had stuff that has been perfectly acceptable for road cycling.

This stigma towards cheap cycling kit strikes me as a bit odd to be honest.

Bought a jacket and a base layer top; to wear under the jacket.

The new Pro-Range at Aldi is a lot better quality than their usual cycling gear. This new range is worth the money.

dropped into aldi on the way to work, picked up a pair of gloves and had a look at the bibs but they look a bit odd with a strange mix of fabrics. The pad was pretty flimsy as well so I gave them a miss.

Yawn, nothing for women as usual. But of course we don't do proper exercise anyway, we prefer eating salad.

Aldi/Lidl base layers are always good. Outerwear is hit-or-miss though.

Last months Aldi 'Winter Jacket' £15.99 is doing very well for my commute to work. My previous jacket is a £130 Endura Stealth which was getting a fair hammering every day but now saved for the weekends.

Coincidentally enough I was thumbing through the latest Aldi SpecialBuys catalogue last night, and spotted this gear, looks reasonable for the price. I'm in need of some winter(ish)-proof trousers for the daily commute and can't imagine you'd go too far wrong with these. Just a case of whether they've got any left before I can get up there at the weekend...

They do a small I just think that it sells out almost instantly!

Same boat as Jezzzer, they don't do small so nothing for me, looks interesting enough

I'm a large in most and an XL in Castelli, will be going for large on Thursday as long as they're long enough in the leg.

What's the sizing of Aldi stuff like? I don't fancy stripping off to check the fit of the tights and jersey in Tottenham Aldi.

I'm still comuting in my Crane shoes from 2005(?)...

Some of my old crane stuff has out lasted RH+ (Most specifically the fact RH+ seem to use Prit-Stick to keep their logos on).

The only downside is whenever I get around to getting to a supermarket they only seem to have size XXXL thermal base layers left.

I'm wearing an Aldi merino winter jersey today - it's grand under a jacket/waterproof and even has a reflective rear pocket

Can't be doing with the unseemly scrum of gruff roadies at my local Aldi (to be fair, it's in 'leafy' Didsbury) when they do their cycling offers.

The socks look good though. Might give it a try regardless.

I have a few bits of theirs but the fit is a problem for me. I am 5'7" and just over 10st and they don't ever do a small so nothing "fits" me particularly well. Certainly not like the illustration.
