A good entry level contender with some nice features, the Comet from LAS is a helmet that will make you happy with the quality and even happier with the price.
The Comet comes with its own helmet bag, which is handy if you hang it in a bike shed or otherwise want to keep it clean.
At 308g it isn't the lightest of helmets, but once it's on your head, you barely notice the extra few grams, and actually soon forget that it's there.
The Comet has a completely removable pad system, which means cleaning it is really easy. The pad is a decent thickness, wicked away my sweat and felt secure on my head. Adjusting the fit is done via the click wheel at the back and the chin strap. A couple of tweaks and job done.
Ventilation is achieved through a total of 22 vents all over the helmet. They work very well and will keep your head cooler on all but the hottest days. I noticed how well the ventilation worked on climbs where I did sweat, but cooled quickly.
There is a detachable visor, so you can use it or not depending on your personal preference. I think it looks better with it, but this is my taste and it's nice you have the choice.
The chin strap is easily adjustable and I had the right fit in no time. LAS have added a chin pad as well which adds another level of comfort to the helmet. The lock is easy to undo with one hand. Simplicity is the beauty of this helmet.
Inside the helmet there is an insect net, cool little feature that keeps the bugs out. As someone who literally ended up with a bee in my bonnet once, I like this aspect.
When looking at a helmet, I think initially we are drawn to aesthetics and the Comet is a decent looking bit of kit. Of course it has to be comfortable too, and the Comet is that. It's not the lightest helmet but it's far from the heaviest and perfectly acceptable for £34.99.
Verdict
Well-priced helmet with some good features

The LAS marketing team will be looking at this article and wondering if it was possible to take a worse photograph of this lid.
Is it me or does this helmet look rubbish. Sorry guys but something is just wrong with this lid.
Guys, guys.. clearly that's the "is starting to rain, I regret wearing my white bibs" look
hehe... I think the look is "what is that guy doing with my bike?" ....
You fellas have competitions don't you?
You come up with a 'look' and whoever is modelling the helmet has to do the look for the photo, right?
This one is 'spotted ex-girlfriend across crowded shopping street'.
