Salsa celebrates Brook’s 150th anniversary with limited edition Warbird gravel bike

Check out this limited edition Warbird created to celebrate 150th anniversary of British saddle brand

Brooks is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and to mark the occasion it has asked Salsa to produce a special edition Warbird. The very special bike will be on display at Brook’s flagship store B1866 in London’s Covent Garden and is available to buy.

“This stunner blends Brooks England’s unrivalled heritage, comfort, and class with the premier gravel bike on the market. It is an incredible honour to have been asked by such a storied brand to collaborate for this historic event,” says Salsa.

Salsa has used it Warbird gravel bike as the basis for the project. It’s a carbon fibre frame and fork and is specced with a Brooks Cambium C15 saddle and matching Cambium Tape on the Salsa Cowbell 2 handlebar. The company was given a copper theme to work with, and it has developed special decals and a head badge to complement the build.

There’s a full SRAM Force 22 groupset with a compact 50/34t chainset and 11-32t cassette, Zipp 30 Course wheels and WTB Riddler 37mm tyres, all dependable and reliable equipment.

“We’re very excited to be a part of this special celebration, and for the opportunity to collaborate with Brooks and their design team,” says Kelly MacWilliams, Salsa’s Creative Director. “On this signature Brooks anniversary edition Warbird, we wanted to honour the legendary attention to detail that Brooks is known for. The end result is as refined as possible. The simple theme of copper is seen in the decals, head badge, and accessories to accentuate the design aesthetics of both brands.”

“Brooks is proud to work together with Salsa on the Dashing Bikes 150th Anniversary project. Salsa, like Brooks, is an innovative company who has found success by designing unique products to fill a specific need, all the while marching to their own beat," adds Bregan Koenigseker, Marketing Consultant at Brooks England.

“Salsa caters to many niche styles of riding, even creating new genres along the way.  And though their products are uniquely genius, their motivation is simple and fits perfectly with the Brooks slogan – “Enjoy Every Mile.”  Salsa bikes are about fun, adventure, and enjoyment, and Brooks is pleased to offer saddles and accessories to complement this mission.”

The bike retails for $4,499 (we don’t have a UK price yet) and you can see more details here

Can't fathom riding a bike with a name like that.  Bringing war into the way we talk about cycling does injustice to both.

Not surprising, Salsa's UK distribution stategy at the moment could best be described as 'secretive'.

Would love to know UK pricing for the 2017 Vayas if anyone happens to have the inside line...

That's not themed on copper (unless the colour balance of the camera went seriously awry), it's brass themed. Blummin' lovely bike anyhow!
