Video just in: Giant TCR Advanced 2 Disc

The Giant TCR Advanced 2 Disc has arrived here at road.cc for testing, a disc brake road bike that sells for £1,699.

This is the cheapest disc equipped bike in the TCR Advanced lineup. It comes with a Shimano 105 groupset and RS505 hydraulic disc brakes. 

All of the other components are Giant’s own, including the aluminium handlebar and stem and the PR 2 wheelset. The complete bike weighs 8.6kg (19.0lb).

Of the other disc brake road bikes that we’ve reviewed on road.cc recently, one of the closest in price to the Giant is the £1,299.99 Vitus Zenium SL Disc. 

That bike has a Shimano 105 groupset too but it’s built around an aluminium frame. 

We called it a “very good semi-race bike that responds well to hard efforts”.

Likewise, the Whyte Suffolk 105 (£1,299) has a Shimano 105 groupset (you could have worked that out for yourself, right?) and an aluminium frame. It’s a lot heavier than the Giant, though, at 10.3kg (22.7lb).

Stu said the Whyte Suffolk is an excellent frame with great riding characteristics but that it’s let down by its Maxxis Rouler tyres.
