The Schwag competition is now closed, thank you to all who have entered. We will be announcing the winners shortly.
Pirelli used the Geneva Motor Show, obviously, to launch its latest bicycle tyres, which sees the standard Silver PZero Velo model line up expanded to include exclusive coloured logo versions in red and yellow.
The standard PZero Velo comes with silver logos and is aimed at road racing. At 210g this tyre is fast, light, comfortable and long-lasting according to our reviewer making it a great all-around ride experience on the road. The PZero Velo is the first bicycle tyre from Pirelli in over 50 years and is made using their exclusive patented compound called SmartNet™ Silica. This compound is composed of more than seventeen elements and was designed by the same researchers who worked on the F1 P Zero compound. The SmartNet™ Silica's molecules' properties help to increase tyre smoothness as well as decreasing rolling resistance, heat build-up and Pirelli also claims, greatly improving wet weather performance.
We are not able to test the molecular science ourselves but our reviewer was very impressed with them when he tested them in Italy and more importantly back home over 1,000 miles in the changeable conditions of the UK. You can read his full review here
The new red and yellow coloured versions are exclusively available direct from velo.pirelli.com with more colours being added throughout the year.
These exclusive coloured editions tie in with the Italian company’s sponsorship of Formula One, where the different colours designate the tyre compound. There’s no difference in the compound of the PZero Velo tyres depending on which of the colours you choose however, it’s purely for aesthetic reasons so you can personalise the appearance of your bike.
To celebrate this launch, Pirelli has given us five sets of the standard silver PZero Velo tyres to give away in a Schwag Grab and the first lucky name out of the hat will also win a Monza Pirelli jersey and bibshort outfit.
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning a set is to be in the UK and comment below this article. It’s really that easy. We’ll round up all the names into a hat and draw the winners on 20th March.
