Canyon has today announced it will sponsor the Pro Continental team Arkea-Samsic for the 2020 season and the team livery bikes have been revealed that will be raced by Warren Barguil, Nairo Quintana and Nacer Bouhanni.
Canyon has been sponsoring two Worldtour teams this year, Movistar and Katusha, but with the latter squad folding at the end of the year, the German bike brand has decided to throw its support at the promising Pro Continental team, one rank below World Tour.
The team will have the choice of the Aeroad, Ultimate and Speedmax bike models.
"Professional cycling drives Canyon as a company and as a brand. Our engagement in the pro peloton motivates us to always think innovatively, to push the boundaries of technology and engineering and put all our knowledge, experience and expertise into creating class-leading, race-winning bikes. And working with the world’s best teams and athletes is vital in achieving that.” explains Roman Arnold, Founder and CEO of Canyon Bicycles on the recent announcement.
“I can’t wait to start collaborating with Arkea-Samsic, because they are a team who share our own singular focus – dedicating everything to achieving great things. With Warren Barguil, Nairo Quintana and Nacer Bouhanni, we’ve got a talented line-up for the coming season who will be bringing a huge depth of talent, experience, and leadership to the road.”
Emmanuel Hubert, General Manager of Arkea-Samsic adds: “We’ve signed a two-year deal with Canyon – an innovative, proven brand with years of experience on the professional circuit. This partnership will allow our riders to benefit from Canyon’s world-class, cutting-edge bikes and tech from the start of 2020. We’re really proud and excited to be able to work so closely with an industry leader like Canyon and to represent them in the pro racing ranks.
"Canyon has racing in their DNA and are constantly striving to hone and perfect their bikes and technology. Working together with them only strengthens our status as a strong team with big ambitions for the future, and the desire to secure big results at the world’s biggest races."
It's getting to that time of year when team news starts to dominate the headlines ahead of the new season, and there'll likely be lots of newly livered bikes so stay tuned for more.
