Smilies fixed !
Gandberg...Im going to take the pressure of being last in the football league off you within the month i expect!
A competition, as is who reaches the summit of the Tourmalet first takes all? At the moment I'm 138kgs, 6'2" and not really as obese as my BMI rating suggests; built like the proverbial brick outhouse. I reckon I could still drop a couple of stones though, and I can't think of a better reason to become fitter than I'll have ever been. Come on mr road.cc, you know you want to. It'd certainly make up for being eternally last in the fantasy football league...!
hmm… maybe, we've got someone else who is also supposed to be writing a blog about getting fit. Hey we could have a competition!
I'm in for a trip to the Etape. Meant to do it this year but a minor back injury meant the doctors wouldnt sign me off as ok by the time the Jan deadline. Luckily I was fine in the end, and went down to have a look at the tour anyway. An amazing holiday.
Dear road.cc, would you be interested in me writing a blog about my preparation for the Etape, kind of like a 'fat bloke gets fit' story? I'm keen to do the etape anyway, and I can be witty at times. Current weight is...er, high. But I love love love biking and this could be the journalistic break I need. Or something.

Cheers boys.

Guess they want to celebrate the centenary of the first mountain stage, but if so that doesn't indicate much forward planning when they chose the 2008 Etape.
The 2008 Etape was Pau-Tourmalet-Hautacam. I'm a little disappointed that the 2010 is in the same region and, to me, stage 9 Morzine looks more of a challenge.
The etape is Pau - Marie Blanque – Soulor – Tourmalet apparently. Yowch. You miss the Aubisque though, so it could have been harder...
I will!
Anyone want to commit early on to a road.cc jaunt to the pyrenees? I would certainly up for a bit of a group outing.
Etape is 18 July, follows route of Stage 17 (summit finish on the Tourmalet)
The 17 stage is the re-run of the original Tourmalet route. 3 cols including the Tourmalet I think. That will be a bugger of a day
Yeah, they're going over the tourmalet on 17 and then back up it on 18. so one of those two will be the etape i'd guess
Is that a mountain top finish on the Tourmalet? That will be a good stage, swap this years Ventoux for the Tourmalet!
I bet that is the one they choose for the Etape...
those aren't the cool stages... Pau to Tourmalet, now *that's* a cool stage. Over the Marie Blanque and the Aubisque i hope...
looks like they're trying to string it out to the bitter end again, tourmalet at 18 and ITT at 20 should make the last week interesting.
more on this later btw...
dodgy smilies... sorry!
