thankfully that isnt my wife
"My missus has worn this Newcastle Falcons pink jersey to death and knows that having bought it money has gone to charity."
Not that *exact* one, though, Jimmy? I'm assuming that's not actually her in the pic?
How can producing a couple of hundred complete sets of new kit plus all the commercial spin-offs be a green initiative.
If they want to decrease their carbon fotprint they should reuse their 'old' kit until it goes transparent like the rest of us mere mortals have to and then get some new stuff.
It's been done purely to make more money for Sky.
If it's for charity, just give the money you would have spent designing and producing the kit to the charity and cut out the bull and the middle man.
"their commitment to a carbon neutral Tour de France."
Don't make me laugh!
None of the pro teams make any real effort to reduce their carbon footprint / environmental impact.
"Wiggins stressed how crucial it is to act now"
I've never heard him give a toss about the environment before. Amazing what you can do when the PR gurus twist your arm. Raising awareness translates as telling all the 'little people' to do their bit and turn the TV off standby overnight while you get the transatlantic or international flight to your next race, sponsored by companies that make a fortune from destroying the very thing they claim to care about.
Or will the Sky team bus (and all those dish installation vans) run on ethically sourced biodiesel, the cars go hybrid and the riders commute to work on their bikes? I think not.
Sadly, it's just greenwash and will be quietly dropped in due course.
Believe it or not, sometimes I do try that with the blog
