OPINION

Close the book on best team for 2011...

Have just seen a list of the confirmed signings for the Luxembourg team for 2011.

If they get to add Fabian Cancellara to that roster then I see them as pretty unbeatable next season... full stop.

Frank Schleck (from Saxo Bank)
Andy Schleck (Saxo Bank)
Davide Vigano (Sky)
Daniele Bennati (Liquigas-Doimo)
Giacomo Nizzolo (amateur)
Bruno Pires (Barbot)
Jens Voigt (Saxo Bank)
Maxime Monfort (HTC-Columbia)
Wouter Weylandt (Quick Step)
Dominic Klemme (Saxo Bank)
Fabian Wegmann (Milram)
Linus Gerdemann (Milram)
Jakob Fuglsang (Saxo Bank)
Brice Feillu (Vacansoleil)
William Clarke (amateur)
Stefan Denifl (Cervélo TestTeam)
Stuart O'Grady (Saxo Bank)
Anders Lund (Saxo Bank)
Tom Stamsnijder (Rabobank)
Martin Mortensen (Vacansoleil)
Joost Posthuma (Rabobank)
Oliver Zaugg (Liquigas-Doimo)

You have strong leaders in the Schlecks coupled with supporting leaders like Gerdemann and Fuglsang.

Maxime Monfort will still harbour ambition of being a top climber and will be available to provide support in the big races. Add in Brice Feillu and you have a top climbing package.

Other domestiques like O'Grady, Voight, Postuma and Zaugg will add punch in the classics along with protection for the leaders in big tours. If Cancellara joins then there will be true dominance.

This really looks a top team, arguably the first true "Galaticos" outfit in the sport, and I am going out on a limb to say they are nailed on to be the best team in 2011.

Yes and what have the Galacticos won recently ?

Remains to be seen whether it is a team of stars or a star team - I'm not entirely convinced.
