The Ultimate Sportive Challenge
The inaugural PEAK EPIC in 2013 set a new benchmark for a hard Peak District sportive, the 2014 event confirmed it as one of, if not, the UK’s toughest Grand Fondo’s. Up there with the Dragon Ride and the Fred Whitton.
The truly epic long route ascends 4000m (>13000ft) in just 165km (103 miles) across the full breadth of Peak District taking in the; Hope Valley, Edale, Chapel-en-le-Frith, The Goyt Valley/Cat & Fiddle, Macclesfield Forest, Axe Edge, Longnor and finally Lathkill Dale.
The PEAK EPIC will take you over roads you never knew existed and away from the traffic filled major roads.
In addition to the long route there is a Medium and Short route
The ride starts and finishes from Lady Manners School in the beautiful Peak District market town of Bakewell.
Entry Includes:
- A clearly signed/arrowed route
- A feed-stations providing juice, water, gels/bars and fruit
- En-route climb information boards
- Colour route map including emergency numbers
- SPORTident chip timing for an instant post-event time
- Refreshments at the finish
- Event Photographer Chris Meads
- Finishing Certificate
- Gold, silver and bronze awards based on your finishing time. Separate women award times
Registration opens at 7.00am - set off riding at any time between 7.30 and 9.30am.

TRP cable-actuated hydraulic calipers, haven't tried them myself but reviews generally rate them as better than cable-only brakes such as Sora. I...

The self-professed cyclists are really self-claimed cyclists of the 'I'm a cyclist myself' variety
They should read scampercraft and not exaggerate the danger of scuttling along. I discourage squirrel predation by acting like one.
You can get the Varia for £10 less from Decathlon.
Perhaps they should apply the same standard to dangerous, unsafe, poorly designed roads and COMPLETELY rip them out rather than "fix" or "redesign"...
