Starting and finishing in the historic Highland capital of Inverness, riders can enjoy cycling on traffic-free roads on a 360° route alongside the loch taking in some of the country's most stunning scenery.

You can test your mettle on the timed King of the Mountain stage - a 4.8-mile / 9km climb gaining 380m in height and reaching a gradient of 12% at times.

Many participants and spectators, choose to stay longer - a huge attraction of the Etape Loch Ness is the area's natural beauty and wealth of attractions. The area is steeped in history, home to castles, misty mountains and, of course, the Loch Ness Monster. Activities in the Scottish Highlands range from challenging hill walks to kayaking, dolphin spotting boat trips to distillery visits.
